Horse injured her hips(probably playing too hard in slippery pasture), drug her foot/walked weird until she wore the toe totally off, down to white line. So replaced the missing wall with the shoe to protect foot until her hips are better, then hopefully back to barefoot on the back feet.

Had a wonderful weekend full of masked and socially distanced continuing education at a Pete Ramey clinic. Excited to apply new things I learned to the barefoot horses that I care for.

Some of the feet I've done over last couple weeks. I'm trying to get better about taking pictures of more of my more boring work, and feet slowly being changed, not just the dramatic before and after pictures of huge changes all at once.

Back in the end of March this horse had some severe inflammatory event and nearly lost the hoof capsules on 3 of his feet. As in the hoof wall completely detached at the cornet. Xrays show no internal problems, he has had perfectly normal and healthy hoof growth before and after. Lameness has been mild and intermittent since them. Due to his living situation(mud, loads of tree roots, steep hills, creek crossings) shoes are not a good option, keeping him trimmed regular is best thing for him and I feel like one more 4 week trim cycle will have the detached area totally grown out. I expect him to be sound again once the healthy hoof is back down to the ground.

Quite old horse with some shoulder problems, some knee problems, some thin sole sore foot problems... this is his third set of shoes I've done and he is back to running around with his pasture friends. Short toe and leather pads. He is doing so wonderful with this set up. But he also didn't wanna stand very well today so let's just pretend I had more patience than I did, and did a better job at dressing the tops of the feet up.

Through trial and error this horses previous farrier found this set up with wedge pads and pour ins keeps the horse sound. So since it's working for the horse, today I tried to not change anything as I take over his shoeing.

This was an interesting find on the first horse of the day. Rock got stuck some time during the night, but this is why it's important to check shod horses daily! Imagine if poor Lilly had been left to walk with that stuck in her foot for long. It was wedged in so tight I thought for a second I may have to pull the shoe in order to remove the rock.

Before and after of donkeys front feet. Pictures aren't the best as he is half way feral and didn't want me taking pictures of his feet. Feet are not the current owners fault, she set up an appt with me the day she got the donkey.
