☘️ Happy St. Patrick's Day! ☘️ Today we're celebrating Irish pet breeds - and there are a TON of dogs with roots on the Emerald Isle! The most well-known is perhaps the Irish Setter. These are active, fun-loving dogs known for their friendly disposition and beautiful chestnut-colored fur. There's also the Irish Terrier, one of the oldest terrier breeds - an affectionate and tenderhearted canine known for its striking red coat. There's also the Irish Water Spaniel, Irish Wolfhound, Kerry Blue Terrier, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Glen of Imaal Terrier, and the Irish Red & White Setter. For cats, the two most notable breeds with Irish roots include the Manx cat and the Cymric, a long-haired version of the Manx. Both of these cat types have very short to entirely absent tails!
