Thank you could never be enough for our very own Whiteville Santa. For 54 years, he has poured his heart into this community and its youth with unwavering dedication and joy. No one could ever compare to the magic and kindness he’s brought to Whiteville for over half a century.

Next Tuesday, 11/25, we will proudly honor him during the Whiteville City Council meeting and share just a fraction of the appreciation he deserves for all he has done for our community. 🎅🏼❤️

🎄 The City of Whiteville is excited to announce Miss Kyla Mae Benton as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Christmas Parade! 🎄

At just six years old, Kyla Mae has already inspired our entire community with her strength, spirit, and remarkable journey of healing. After surviving a tragic accident earlier this year, Kyla has shown what hope, determination, and the power of community prayer can do. Today, she’s back in school, back to dancing, and shining brighter than ever.

This year, we are honored to celebrate Kyla as our Parade Grand Marshal — a joyful reminder of what this season is all about: faith, love, and the miracles that bring us together.

Please join us in honoring Whiteville’s very own Christmas Miracle, Miss Kyla Mae Benton, as we kick off a season of hope and celebration. ❤️✨

For more than half a century, Whiteville and Columbus County has been blessed with The Real Whiteville Santa, a man who lived Christmas every day of the year. He taught many of us in school, cared for our community through work with rescue and so much more. He and his family opened their hearts to generations of families. Whether you were a child sharing your Christmas wishes or an adult rediscovering your belief in magic, the Real Whiteville Santa gave us all a reason to smile and to believe.

This year, Santa is facing health challenges that prevent him from greeting families the way he always has. Out of respect for Santa and his family, we ask our community to join us in simply surrounding him with the same love and joy he has brought to us.

We invite you to help us build “Memory Lane”: a tribute filled with your photos, stories, and holiday moments featuring the Real Whiteville Santa.

These memories will be shared during Shop Our Stores on November 29th and again during the Christmas Extravaganza on December 6th, where families can walk through Memory Lane and add their thoughts to a community message book. The memories and the message book will be at the Chamber during our regular business hours outside of these two events. After the holidays, we will compile the photographs and the message book for Santa and his family.

All photos will be compiled into a digital slideshow for Memory Lane. Some will also be displayed in print during the events.

Children visiting our visiting Santa during Shop Our Stores Downtown Whiteville will receive a printed Real Whiteville Santa Coloring Book, created to honor the legacy of The Real Whiteville Santa who has loved our community so well.

Columbus County has its very own Beaver Bounty Program — a community effort to help manage beaver populations and protect farmland, roads, and waterways!

💡 Local landowners can apply through the Columbus Soil & Water Conservation District to participate, and approved trappers can earn payment for helping keep our creeks and drainage systems clear.

It’s all part of keeping our county’s waterways healthy and reducing flooding across rural areas — one beaver at a time!
