I switched from vet med to pet sitting thinking it would be easier on my heart and I was so wrong. The pain of losing a client’s pet is worse because I now spend so much more time with them.
One of my clients had to put their dog of 15 years to sleep on Friday, she was old, she had a lot of health issues and she was tired, so it was for the best interest of her, but walking into their house today to take care of her two other siblings and not seeing her in the middle of the living room on her bed yelling at me to get her up so she could eat lunch was insanely shattering to my heart.
If I’ve ever provided pet care for you and your animals, please know that I genuinely love them so deeply and whenever it’s time to say goodbye, my heart breaks right with you. Please hug your pets tight because they are one of the sweetest joys in the world 🖤🐾
