Keep reading to learn more about our equine background, history, and influences. I was raised around great performance quarter horses in ranch t
ype settings in South Dakota. Horses have been a passion of mine since learning to ride ba****ck at 3 years old. I developed a deeper interest in bloodlines, dispositions, and conformation as I learned things from my dad and two of my grandpas growing up. Most of my family has horses now or grew up around them, doing things from ranching, roping, barrel racing, cutting, breaking outside horses, and much more. Living in the northern Midwest, horses are required to be tough to survive our weather because we get all four seasons. It can be cold, hot, wet, dry, and everything in between. Horses must be strong, sound, well balanced, sure footed, and be able to adapt quickly to our weather. Some of my favorite bloodlines are King, Doc Bar, Poco Bueno, and Peppy San Badger for their temperaments, versatility, brains, athletic ability, and confirmation. I grew up riding Poco Epic, a grandson of Poco Bueno, who was the best kid and ranch horse anyone could ask for, even though he was a breeding stallion as well. Today I have Poco Twice Royal, a grandson of Doc O Lena, who is out of a daughter of Poco Epic, that use as my go to ranch riding horse and breed mares to. I’ve had several influential horse people in my life that have helped me develop and fine tune my personal horsemanship skills. The biggest influences have been immediate family like my parents Scott and Julie (Hall) Dimond, grandpa Mark Edwards, grandpa Scott Hall, and aunt Lori Hall. For several years I worked in Northern Texas for show horse trainers in the reining, working cow horse, cutting, and hunter jumpers. During this time, I learned the ins and outs of the horse showing business. I remember a bit of horse culture shock when I started working in TX because of all the major differences in how horses are raised, handled, and cared for in the big show barn setting, compared to the small family ranch setting I had grew up in. I caught on quickly and excelled in all my positions, doing everything from feeding and stall cleaning, to keeping inventory and other records, to administering medications and doing veterinary care, to grooming, videoing, and riding the horses. Being pretty well self-employed now, I spend my days focusing on my three business ventures; horses, cattle, and bookkeeping but I am so thankful to have learned as much as I have from so many great people. I look forward to meeting new people, learning more, and growing my businesses into the future.
