🐾 Shar-Pei Puppies and mom! They are cute, unique and a breed with specific care needs.

Our Shar-Pei mama and her 8 puppies are now approximately 5 weeks old, and interest in adoption is already growing.

Before you fall in love, here are a few important considerations about the breed:

Shar-Pei are loyal, intelligent, and deeply devoted companions, but they are not considered low-maintenance dogs.

Their characteristic wrinkles require regular cleaning to help prevent skin infections, and their ears and eyes need ongoing monitoring and care. Some individuals may develop entropion (inward-rolling eyelids that can require surgical correction). They are also predisposed to allergies, Shar-Pei Fever (a serious condition that can cause recurrent fevers and potential long-term organ complications), and orthopedic conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia.

These health considerations do not diminish what makes the breed special.

With appropriate care and attention, Shar-Pei are affectionate, quirky, and exceptionally loyal companions, with a strong and distinctive personality.

At Paw Prints Animal Hospital, we believe that informed adopters create the most successful long-term matches. These puppies still have a few weeks before they are ready for their adoptive homes, and we are committed to helping our partner organization find each one the right family.

The best home is one prepared for all aspects of the breed—not only the appearance of the wrinkles, but the care they require throughout life.

Keep your pets safe! Dogs, especially brachycephalic breeds ( Pugs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and Pitty’s) can overheat quickly!
Keep them home and in air conditioning during these so very hot days to come!

Lunch may be delayed…huge shout out to both Fire Companies that responded quickly and professionally to our food truck fire yesterday! Brians Road and Westlake are our hero’s 💕
Fortunately no one was injured! The trailer is a complete and total loss. Many a meal passed through that window!

Huge shout out to all our receptionists for a job well done. Without them, we'd be drowning in a sea of pets, clients would be going crazy, and appointments would be nonexistent, total mayhem would ensue!
