A happy healing update for sweet Pepsi! ❤️‍🩹

Pepsi is an 11-year-old Chihuahua who recently needed a little extra care after developing a tumor on the top of his head. Dr. Dalton surgically removed the mass, and these photos show Pepsi at his follow-up visit when it was time for his sutures to come out.

And just look at that healing progress! 🥰 His incision healed beautifully, and we were so happy to see him doing well after his procedure.

As pets get older, lumps and bumps can become more common, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored. A mass can be caused by many different things, and appearance alone often can’t tell us exactly what it is. That’s why having new or changing growths evaluated by our veterinary team is an important part of caring for senior pets.

Keep an eye out for masses that:
• Appear suddenly or grow quickly
• Change in size, shape, color, or texture
• Bleed, become irritated, or develop an open area
• Seem painful or begin bothering your pet

Depending on what we find, we may recommend monitoring the area, collecting a sample for testing, or removing the mass.

For Pepsi, we’re celebrating a successful procedure, a beautifully healed incision, and one very handsome senior pup!

Ella recently stopped by White Bear Animal Hospital for her annual wellness exam, and she brought a few tricks along with her! 💙

At White Bear, we believe veterinary visits can be a positive experience for our feline patients. Giving cats time to get comfortable, using plenty of encouragement (and tasty treats!), and meeting them where they are can help make their visit feel a little less clinical and a lot more comfortable.

And Ella clearly felt comfortable enough to put on a show! 😹

Annual exams are also an important opportunity to monitor your cat’s health from year to year. Cats can be very good at hiding signs of illness or discomfort, so regular exams can help us identify subtle changes in their weight, teeth, heart and lungs, joints, behavior, and overall health.

Plus, those tricks aren't just cute! Training and enrichment can provide mental stimulation, encourage activity, build confidence, and strengthen the bond you share with your cat.

Meet Minnie, a 14-year-old Australian Shepherd who proves that getting older doesn’t mean giving up the things you love.

Minnie visits White Bear Animal Hospital regularly for senior wellness care and is also being treated for discomfort associated with degenerative joint disease (DJD). Helping manage her pain and mobility is especially important because this girl still has a very important job to do!

Minnie is a therapy dog who makes weekly visits to an assisted living facility with her owner, bringing companionship and plenty of smiles to the residents. ❤️

As Minnie has gotten older, she feels more confident walking on surfaces that give her better traction. So before she makes her entrance, rugs are laid down to help her comfortably navigate slippery floors. The residents have appropriately named this tradition:

“Roll out the carpet, the queen has arrived!” 👑

For senior pets, sometimes seemingly small adjustments can make a big difference. Regular veterinary exams, pain and mobility management, and simple changes around the home can help older pets stay comfortable and continue doing the things that bring them joy.

We’re honored to help Minnie stay comfortable and continue sharing her special gift with others. 💙

Why have one kitten… when you can have two? 😻😻

Meet siblings Billy and Betsy, who recently visited White Bear Animal Hospital for their new patient exams with Dr. Zupancich! These two did a great job and gave our team twice the kitten love. 💙🐾

Early kitten visits are an important part of building a healthy start. Kittens are still developing their immune systems, which can leave them especially vulnerable to infectious diseases and parasites.

Keeping up with recommended exams and vaccinations helps protect kittens against serious illnesses such as:

🐱 Feline Panleukopenia: A highly contagious virus that can cause severe vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and even death, particularly in young kittens.

🤧 Feline Herpesvirus & Calicivirus: Common causes of upper respiratory disease that can lead to sneezing, congestion, eye problems, mouth ulcers, and other complications.

🦠 Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV): A contagious virus that can weaken the immune system and contribute to serious illness. Our team can help determine appropriate testing and vaccination based on your kitten's age and lifestyle.

🪱 Kitten visits also give us a chance to check for intestinal parasites, fleas, and other health concerns that may not always be obvious at home.

Because kittens need a series of vaccines and boosters as they grow, staying on schedule is an important part of developing reliable protection.

Billy and Betsy are off to a great start, and we're excited to watch this sibling squad grow! ❤️
