It has been a painful year.
I reopened the shop only to have to close it after months of persistent anonymous racist threats received through the website. Sadly, there are still individuals who react with hate towards a Black-owned business (a puppy and plant shop of all things) being open in a place like , also unfortunately known as “white ridge”.
Racism in places like Colorado and other northern states is often overlooked and minimized. Police departments frequently lack accountability for failing to protect people of color, and in many cases, they themselves become the immediate threats to our safety.
It remains unclear whether the ongoing threats to my shop stem from one individual or multiple sources. Therefore, I have chosen to prioritize my safety and mental well-being by closing the business.
In the meantime, I am still able to provide full service grooming for tiny dogs, such as sweet Miss Nani (pictured above), as well as nail trimming services for others. But for safety reasons, anyone seeking services will need to be vetted, an existing client, or referred by an existing client.
As a single mother who has worked diligently and faced numerous challenges, I am also seeking generous forms of support such as donations to help recover from the financial losses of this year. These funds will help immensely as I am unable to work to my fullest extent and plan to relocate out of state to ensure the safety of my family. Donations can be sent to me via Venmo (username ).
I sincerely appreciate any assistance during this difficult time. This year has been a bit too full of humbling experiences and practicing asking for help. Thank you all for your understanding and unending support.
