✨Look at the stars… ✨

Tonight, we’re wishing on every single one for our sweet Coney! 💛🐰

💛 CONEY UPDATE 💛

The last few days have been a rollercoaster with our sweet Coney. 🐰

She’s been peeing, eating her greens, staying alert, and even hopping into a lap for snacks! 🥬🥹 But still… no p**p. 😔

By Monday, it was time for a follow up at the vet. Her X-ray showed no change, but her vet is optimistic about her prognosis. 🤞🏽Coney is staying overnight for more fluids and monitoring, and may need another night.

For now, it’s a waiting game. She’s in the best place possible to get the support she needs. 🙏🏽💛

What a week! Tough little miss Coney is continuing to improve, her energy is up today, she is hydrated and eating veggies on her own! 💪

Smokey G Falloo headed off to foster-to-adopt this week with his hopefully future bun-wife. 💕

We officially finished the final move into our new rescue location & we’re already putting the space to work, welcoming four new intakes this week! 🐰

UPDATE on Coney 🫶🏻

After spending a full day and a half in veterinary care, receiving lots of fluids, Critical Care, medications, and an overnight stay, this little champ gave us one p**p and 30% improved xrays! She is resting for the next day back in her foster home, where she has even been witnessed slightly munching on hay on her own. It’s a small step, but it’s a step in the right direction!

This girl is a freaking FIGHTER. ❤️‍🩹

Coney is still here because of the incredible person who rescued her from the streets, her amazing foster family, a LOT of teamwork, and some absolute miracle work from the team at Lynden Veterinary Hospital. 🥹

And, in just 24 hours, our community came together and donated over $470 toward Coney’s care. We are completely blown away.

A HUGE thank you to Xan, Emily, Selena, Mika, Tara, Nichole, Bonnie, Makayla, Kindsey, and everyone else who has donated to Coney’s care. 🥹🩷 And to everyone who has shared her story, sent well wishes, prayed for her, or simply kept this little girl in your thoughts - thank you.

But we aren’t completely out of the woods yet.

We have accrued approximately $700 in medical bills so far, with another bill on its way that we estimate will be another $100–$200. Coney will likely need additional care on Monday, including repeat fluids.

So we’re asking you to keep working your community magic. 🩷 If you can donate toward Coney’s care, every dollar helps. And, please share Coney’s story. You never know who might see it and be able to help!

We could really use your help! ‼️

🐰Sweet Coney has been through it. First, she was rescued off the streets covered in fleas, by a wonderful person. 💕

🥺Then, this poor girl developed a horrible bout of GI stasis and needs overnight care. 🏥🩺

🐰We’re hoping and praying that she pulls through! And that’s where we need your help! With several vet visits, an overnight stay, and aftercare, we could really use donations and well wishes. 🫶

Some goodbyes are hard because they mean you did something right. 🥹❤️

Sweet Smokey G Falloo had a very successful speed date this week, and we’re pretty sure he may have found his bun-wife. 🐰💕

His foster family has given this boy such a wonderful home, and while it’s hard to say goodbye to a foster bunny you’ve grown to love, they’re happily sending him off to foster-to-adopt with his new friend in hopes that he’s found his forever home.

And then there’s this. 🥹 After seeing Smokey’s speed date photos, his little BFF of his foster home drew a picture of the happy couple. We think it might be the sweetest speed-date recap we’ve ever seen. ❤️

So here’s to Smokey, his new bun-wife, Luna, and one very special little artist. 🎨🐰

🚨 Dumping Domestic Bunnies Is a Death Sentence 🚨

‼️Domestic rabbits are not equipped to survive on their own. When a pet rabbit is abandoned outside, they can face predators, cars, starvation, extreme temperatures, injury, and illness. ‼️

These two stories show just how devastating abandonment can be. 😔

💔 Nox 🌈
Nox was found sitting in the grass on the side of the road. Someone had left a bowl of water in front of him, but he had clearly been there for some time and was unable to move away. A woman who was riding her bicycle by stopped to help. As a bunny owner herself, she immediately recognized that Nox was a domestic rabbit.

There was no visible blood, but unfortunately, his injuries were far worse than they appeared. Nox had a broken spine, broken ribs, and broken legs. His injuries were so severe that he was humanely euthanized to prevent further suffering.

We are incredibly grateful that someone stopped for him. Because of her, Nox did not have to spend his final moments alone on the side of the road. ❤️‍🩹

💔 Little Guy 🌈
Another domestic rabbit was recently found injured in the Bellingham area. Little Guy had both back legs broken and was taken in for immediate care.

Sadly, his injuries were also too severe, and he was humanely euthanized to prevent further suffering. Again, we are grateful someone found him and got him help. He was no longer left alone to suffer. ❤️‍🩹

These stories are heartbreaking, but they are also a reminder of why abandoning a domestic rabbit is never an acceptable option!

A domestic rabbit doesn't know that the grass in a park isn't a safe home. They don't know how to escape predators, find appropriate food, avoid traffic, or protect themselves from the elements. They depend on people!

If you can no longer care for your rabbit, please ask for help. 💕

Reach out to your local rabbit rescue, humane society, shelter, or rabbit-savvy community for rehoming support. There are also some wonderful online groups that help rabbit owners find safe, appropriate new homes for their bunnies.

Even if a rescue is full, there may still be options.

Please don't leave a domestic rabbit outside and hope someone finds them. Even if they are found, it is often too late.

Don't abandon. Don't dump. Ask for help. 🐰💔

🌈🐰Nox and Little Guy deserved better. We are grateful that, in both cases, someone stopped and made sure they were no longer suffering alone. ❤️‍🩹

It’s been a BIG week at Bunanza as we continued to get settled at our new rescue location. 🏡✨ We’re almost there thanks to an incredible team of volunteers, and we’re still blown away by all the volunteer applications that came pouring in after our post this week. Your support means everything to us & the bunnies!!!
