Happy Meet a Raider Monday! Today's Raider is Tanner McKinley.
Tanner, from Ponce de Leon, Florida, is the Coordinator of Raider Life at Northwest Florida State College. Tanner has also been a student at NWFSC since 2019. This May, Tanner will graduate with his bachelor's in Business Management and Supervision from NWFSC. Tanner has already been accepted into the Organizational Management & Communication Master's degree program at Florida State University for this fall.
Tanner says, "During my time at NWFSC, I have seen two sides of the college. I have gotten to see the student side of the college and the employee side of the college. While I was a student, I saw how dedicated all the staff at NWFSC was to student success. This inspired me to apply to work at the college. I wanted to work at the school that continued to help support me along my academic journey. But, most importantly, I wanted to give back and help other students like me.
As the Coordinator of Raider Life, I oversee all twenty-six student organizations, student activities, and student travel. This includes our Back-to-School Bash, Fall Fest, Spring Fling, De-Stress Week, and various other activities during the school year. I am also the advisor of the Student Advisory Board and the Co-Advisor of the RaiderReps, the college's student ambassadors. Recently, I chaperoned the Student Advisory Board to the Florida College System Student Government Association's "Rally in Tally." During this time, students could meet with their elected representatives and advocate for bills related to education. In addition, I enjoy working with hundreds of students and helping them become connected and engaged in Raider Life.
My favorite part of being a Raider is, seeing how everyone, whether student or employee, supports each other. We all want to see each other succeed academically, professionally, and personally. Seeing how many faculty and staff helped me along my academic journey at the college has helped me want to help other students along their journey. To me, supporting each other is what being a Raider is all about. That is why I am proud to be a Raider."
