The boys got a lesson in trail pony etiquette with Smoke. Magic’s first adventure on the trail! Rolex got a refresher course in what it means to be a Florida horse. Swamp stomping is not optional! Water is oozing from the ground. I think I’m beginning to sprout gills.

“Smoke’s Six String Picker” aka Six. Yearling KMSHA C**t by Holy Smoke. The “pumpkin spice dun”, he’s color tested Silver Red Dun, but he doesn’t really fit the red dun phenotype. Six should mature right around 14.3h. Gaits in the field. Really mild mannered and ready for new adventures. Sixtyfivehundred.

We sort of figured Magic would take to this with no drama. If the weather would cooperate we could proceed with more adventures for all of these newbies! We did manage, during this brief reprieve from our week long deluge, to have this moment of “Magic”. 😂 The magical part was that Chris didn’t need a mounting block! And just like that….she decided to move forward happily and might as well try to show off her natural abilities! I love this moment! Especially after there was a bit of a delay(from our perspective not hers!) We are so lucky that she’s so honest and we could utilize a trail ride on a horse so green, but it was just what she needed to make everything click! This is raw natural talent on this girl. Oopsie Daisy is 1 month old! I maybe should have named her Miss Busy Body. LOL! She’s the most inquisitive foal we’ve ever had. Bitty has long since given up worrying about where she’s gone to and left the babysitting duties to Auntie Silvie. I’m quite smitten! I can’t wait to see her roan come through!

Remembering FTF Spider, from Fairy Tale Farm in Morehead, Kentucky. He lived to the respectable age of 32 and was laid to rest this week. Spider is part of the foundation of our program and is the grandfather of Holy Smoke. He is the reason we fell in love with mountain horses. Brave, surefooted and with a speed gait that made your eyes water. We had the very great honor and privilege of hosting him for a summer and we will never forget his impact on our herd and our hearts. Rest in peace sweet beautiful boy. 💜
