the cost of food, caging, supplies, medical care, cleaning supplies and facility maintenance. We are a small, home-based facility and can only take in a limited number of animals at a time. Please call or text before bringing animals to our facility for prior approval. If we cannot take your animal, we will help find a rehabilitator who can! We appreciate your understanding and support. Together, we can help save so many of Mother Nature’s creatures in need. We couldn’t do this without you!

While my family is trying to find a way to comprehend and heal from our tragic loss, if that is even possible. I will be pausing intakes until further notice. This is the hardest thing I have ever experienced. We need to be here for each other more than ever. 💔
I am focusing on the animals currently in my care and have had a few releases this week. It is hard to feel the joy right now, but I know that Scott would not have wanted us to remain in a state of sadness. Words cannot express what I am feeling, but I am trying my best to move forward. Thank you all for your kind words and support. That means the world to Jim, myself and our family. 💔🕊️

I did want to share an amazing release this week. Friday, I received a call from the Turtle Rescue League that the snapping Turtle I rescued on June 17, 2025 (almost exactly one year ago) was finally ready for release. She lost a portion of her nose from necrotic tissue, but it healed very well and she has returned home. I met with Alexia from the Turtle Rescue League and we released her back here in Westport. Hopefully she will add many more years to estimated age of 75 years old. Such a wonderful release. ❤️ I know that Scott would want me, and all my family to still feel the joy and happiness in life. It is very hard and such a mix of emotions, but I am trying. This one's for you Scott 💔💔

Intakes over the weekend included a single bunny who was attacked by a cat. He suffered severe bite wounds and lacerations behind his head and lower back. 😓
Three sibling bunnies were found scattered around a yard, also injured by a predator. Sadly, one of the three bunnies passed away due to the severity of her injuries. 😥 The remaining two and the single bunny joined our back pack bunny. (Who is doing very well 🙏🏻) Hopefully they will give each other comfort and help each other heal.
Lastly, two very young Chipmunks arrived. Both found lying on the ground, cold and lethargic in similar situations. One in a driveway and one in the finders lawn. Sadly, the chippy found in the lawn passed away shortly after arriving. 😓 I'm glad I could give her a safe warm place to pass. 💔🕊️ Prayers for all our new arrivals. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏻

Another Chipmunk arrived this past week. He suffered a severe tear to the back of his neck and a slight injury to his eye. He was attacked by a cat, so the threat of Pasteurella is always a concern. Luckily he is doing very well so far and is expected to make a full recovery. 🙏🏻 Prayers for this sweet Chippy! ❤️🙏🏻

I received a call from the Fairhaven Animal Control Officer about a baby bunny that was brought to school in a students back pack. After confiscating the bunny and questioning the student about where she found the bunny so that he could be returned to his family, the student lied and said she found the bunny in the bathroom at the school. After the ACO met with the student and her mother, they both showed little remorse or concern about the well being of this innocent bunny. The student would not tell where she found the bunny and the mother was less than cooperative. Such a shame. The bunny is now in my care. We were concerned the bunny wouldn't survive after what he went through, but so far, he is doing well. I wish schools and parents would teach kids the importance of Mother Nature, her critters and how to respect them, rather than some of the nonsense in curriculums today. The future may be a better place.. but for now, this bunny is in a better place. Prayers for this sweet baby. 🙏🏻❤️

The last arrival of this past weekend was this juvenile squirrel. He was found struggling to cross the street. 😓 His finders scooped him up, kept him warm and called for help. At first, they thought his back leg was injured, but once he arrived here and I examined him, I determined there is nothing wrong with his legs. He is showing signs of neurological distress. I'm not sure exactly what happened to him, but I am treating him accordingly and he is slowly showing improvement. Prayers for this sweet little boy.🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 Cheryl Aguiar

Another arrival from this past weekend... I actually may have to pause intakes for a bit to focus on the patients in care. It is going to be a tough one. Kathy from Somerset stopped yesterday morning when she saw an opossum that had been hit in the road. The opossum was deceased, but she had ten babies. One had also been hit and was deceased. Kathy picked up six ice cold babies scattered on the pavement and three babies still in mom's pouch. She brought them home, warmed them up and immediately called for help. Within one hour, the babies were on their way to me. Unfortunately, four babies were deceased on arrival, but the remaining five (two girls and three boys) are still with me. Honestly, I was amazed they made the night. They weigh in at only 10 grams. At this size, they are often considered non viable and are humanely euthanized. It will not be easy, but I am going to give this a try. Even if I can save just one.. it's one who gets a second chance. I truly don't know how this will turn out. 🙏🏻 Thank you Kathy for going above and beyond. We will try to save them in honor of their mom. 💔 Please send those prayers for these sweet, innocent babies and me... I'm going to need it. 🫣🙏🏻

It's been a busy weekend! Lots of new intakes, but I'll start with these two.. Another Chipmunk arrived. This one is a juvenile that was attacked by a cat. He is receiving antibiotics as a precaution from the bacteria in cats saliva and is doing very well so far.
Another bunny arrived with a tear in his skin on his right shoulder. He is also receiving antibiotics and wound care. He has joined the bunny that was injured by the fallen board. All three should be ready to head back to the wild after a short stay here and little TLC. Prayers for these two precious critters. ❤️🙏🏻

Check out the progress of our naked eastern grey squirrel "Squeaky" from bottom picture to top. He looks absolutely amazing! He is getting so active, it's hard to get a good picture. 😄 So very proud of this little man... and yes, he is as soft as he looks! 🥰🙏🏻

This tiny baby Eastern Chipmunk was found wandering around with his eyes still closed, no mom in sight. 😢 Most often, if a baby chipmunk comes out of the burrow alone, there is something wrong. Something may have happened to mom. Sadly, no other siblings were found. He is thin and dehydrated, but with a little TLC, he will be on the mend. ❤️‍🩹 One eye opened yesterday and both are wide open today. 🙏🏻 He was named Denali by his caring finder. Thank you so much for saving this little nugget Christie. Prayers for this sweet baby! 🙏🏻❤️
