Keep your furry friends cool this summer!

Before taking your dog for a walk, test the temperature of the asphalt with your hand. Hot concrete can burn your pet’s paws.

It’s best to be outside during the early morning or in the evening, when it’s not as hot. Remember, whenever your dog is outside, they need to have access to fresh water and shade.

Pets are more sensitive to loud noises, flashing lights, and strong smells. Let’s all do our part to keep them calm & safe this Fourth of July holiday.

• Leave your pet indoors. If you can’t leave them at home, keep them leashed and next to you.
• If you’re able to leave them home, prepare a comfortable and secure place for them. Some dogs find comfort in white noise or sound from TV or radio.
• Walk your dog earlier in the day, before fireworks start.
• Treats or toys can help distract your dog.
• Ensure your pet has a collar and ID tag with your contact information.
