It is Christmas in July weekend at WestRover WaterSports (next door)!! 😃Dock Diving begins today at 1:00 pm and will continue Saturday and Sunday.

The City of Westover will join us at 11:30 AM on Saturday for a ribbon cutting celebration. MO’s Hawg House will be here, there is no fee for spectators, and pups are welcome 🐾 There will be some spaces for day of entry NADD competitors.

Did you know Dr. Jay is chairman of the Westover Business Alliance and serves on City Council? Municipal elections are on August 26th and we have three candidates for Mayor of Westover. Next Thursday is a great opportunity to meet them and hear from influential developer and business leader Eddie Lumpkin at the WBA Summer meeting.
It will be the first WBA meeting at the Mt. Tabor Annex and new Westover Library. There is no fee to attend. Check out the shared post for more details!

The Summer WBA meeting is next Thursday, July 24th at the Westover Mt. Tabor Annex Building! Our keynote speaker will be Eddie Lumpkin, President of Metro Companies and owner of Lumpkin Development. Then, each of the three mayoral candidates will share a brief message in a “Meet the Candidates” session.
Lunch will be catered by LaPaz, courtesy of our co-host the City of Westover.
There is no fee to attend, there will be DOOR PRIZES, local news, fellowship/networking, and more.
You don’t want to miss this one!

Happy Father's Day to all the incredible Dog Dads out there whose "kids" have four paws, a wet nose, and a tail that wags uncontrollably at the sound of their voice ❤️🐾❤️
* The masters of the perfect belly rub.
* The throwers of endless balls, bumpers, and frisbees.
* The brave souls who handle early morning potty breaks, rain or shine.
* The ones who know treats are the key to unconditional love (and obedience).
* The expert poop-scoopers and patient muddy-paw-wipers.
* The men who know fur is the perfect accessory for every item of clothing.

May your day be filled with sloppy puppy kisses, long walks, a nap on the couch with your best friend, and maybe they'll even let you have the last bite of your own sandwich… but probably not 😄🐾

280AMC is excited to announce that we were selected as the LapSpayMyDog.com hospital of the month! We have been performing minimally invasive surgery since 2019 to provide a human level of care experience for many of our surgical patients ❤️🐾
Dr. Crisman and Dr. Whiten are certified to perform laparoscopic surgery. Of course we do spay procedures, but also perform gastropexy (to prevent bloat/GDV), biopsies, and more.

This weekend is the WestRover WaterSports Birthday Luau & Regional qualifier! Come out to see the new facilities, watch some of the best canine athletes in the southeast, and for MO’s Huli Huli Chicken! The fun starts Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday. There is no fee for spectators 😃🐾💦🤙

Dr. Jay had the privilege of accepting the 2025 Alabama Animal Hall of Fame Hero Award for Niblet Strange today! This is the highest honor that can be bestowed on an animal in our state and is awarded by the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation & Alabama Veterinary Medical Association.

Mrs. Pam Strange adopted Niblet as a “Pug Pal” through her Alabama Pug Rescue group in 2016 and immediately realized there was something different about this “throw away” little girl. She soon became a Hand-in-Paw animal-assisted therapy star! Pam says she “lost her dog… in a good way” the first time they went to Children’s Hospital. “She belonged to everybody… I was just the other end of the leash” Pam says. Niblet had a special gift and was meant to be a therapy dog. She brought love, encouragement, and healing to countless sick and hurting people during her seven years as an animal-assisted therapy dog.

Niblet was a shooting star. Her impactful life that blessed so many was cut short by cancer and we lost her in July of 2024 when she was only 8 years old.
Niblet’s legacy lives on every day with each Hand in Paw visit. Mrs. Pam is now an evaluator, staunch advocate for animal-assisted therapy, and has three active therapy dogs with HUGE paw prints to follow ❤️🐾🙌

Memorial Day is the unofficial beginning of summer, but more importantly, it us the day we honor the brave souls who gave their lives for our country.
We will be closed today and will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday 5/27 at 7am. Our Urgent Care service will be available until 9pm if you need us. 🇺🇸❤️🐾🇺🇸

Imagine your pup getting a check-up without “Vet exam room” anxiety in a secure outdoor space while enjoying the breeze…
Our Cabana style exam rooms are NOW OPEN and the first week was SO much fun!
We have two 10’x13’ spaces surrounded by 6’ puppy fence and covered by a Hanso pergola. There is an outdoor scale and everything we need for complete physical exams & preventive care just steps away from the hospital.
Seeing normally frightened patients relax in a Fear Free environment and allowing us to care for them has been immensely rewarding.
Outdoor exams can be scheduled ahead of time when you make your appointment and are available on a “first come first served” basis Mon-Sat every week.
Just another step in 280AMCs commitment to provide the best patient experience possible ❤️🐾😊

We have seen two venomous snake bites this week! Happily, both pets recovered with proper care. Check out this post from our friends at Alabama Snake Removers. Mark Hay and his team are real PROs and can help you if you encounter a venomous snake or just have snake questions.
If your pet is bitten, protect yourself from the snake and call your veterinarian! Don’t trust “Dr. Google” home remedies 🫣Urgent Care service is available at 280AMC until 9:00 pm 365 days a year for our patients.
