Working on some force fetch. If the dog wants to fight we put them on more unsteady footing until they learn to hold still. This is a great trick when you’ve got a kid training the dog because it’s much harder for the dog to out-muscle the kid if they’re focusing on not falling off. , , .

This past weekend in Mountain home was one for the books. Alan ran Athena and our oldest daughter ran Artemis.

Great way to finish Idaho’s upland season. Mixed bag of Chukars and one Hun while hunting over Addy and Sky (Athena Vom Zedernbach). This A litter puppy is showing even more potential than her Mom was at this age. I’m already counting down the days until Sept. 1 and it all starts back up again. ,

Sunday Afternoon walk in some strong wind. I had Athena Vom Zedernbach (Sky) running with her Mom, and despite the wind we got to be witness to some very strong genetics. A little bit of conditioning and steadiness work to develop this is going to make for some great hunting next fall. ,

3 miles through knee deep snow was worth it today. Birds wanted to hold tight and we got some great shooting in. Addy pointed the first covey 400 yards away from me and it took me a long time to get there but I still had to encourage the birds to flush once I caught up. Jetta did a great job locating some singles and both dogs showed their worth recovering downed birds who were burying themselves in the snow. Fun day for sure. , ,

I watched Sky (Athena Vom Zedernbach) stick her nose into the wind and follow it for 100 yards before slamming this point. I didn’t think she’d hold it long so I waited a long time before I started the video so you’re only catching the end of the point. It didn’t turn out to be one of our target species but it was definitely proof that her nose works great. Also fun to see her loud on sight. , .
