Sometimes animals come into our lives not just as pets, not just as a cat in the house, but as healing souls that quietly stay beside us when words and medicine no longer help. I want to share the story of my cat, Apollo. Many people mistake him for a Maine C**n because he is large, fluffy, and majestic, but Apollo is not a Maine C**n. He is a Siberian cat, and for those who often ask, unfortunately Maine C**ns do not exist in this color. Apollo came into my life not from a breeder, but from my grandmother. Five years ago, my grandmother, who lived in Russia, lost her oldest and beloved son. The pain of that loss was unbearable. She was heartbroken, lonely, and slowly fading under the weight of grief. That was when I made the decision to give her a cat. Not a Bengal and not a Maine C**n. I chose a Siberian cat for a very simple reason. Maine C**ns are heavy, and caring for their coat can be physically demanding, while my grandmother needed something different. She did not need an exotic breed. She needed warmth, companionship, and a living presence beside her. Yes, Siberian cats shed a lot, but what they give back is something no medication can ever replace. Apollo became everything to her. Her joy, her purpose, her responsibility. She loved him like a child, talked to him, cared for him, and lived for him. And I truly believe that this cat extended her life by five whole years, five precious years filled with love and meaning. My grandmother often worried about what would happen to Apollo when she was gone, and I told her that he would be my memory of her. Three months ago, my grandmother passed away, and this loss broke my heart. She was not just my grandmother, she was the closest person in my life. I brought Apollo home with me, and now he continues his mission. Now he heals my soul. He is a living memory. Warm paws, quiet purring, and a piece of my grandmother that stayed with me. Animals are not just animals. Sometimes they are healing beings who come into our lives to save us, to support us, to extend lives, and to leave love behind even after someone is gone. Apollo continues his mission. The mission of healing.
