Bernedoodle impulse control work.

I've been teaching Gus to chill, literally.

We learned "down" and he's ace at it now.
Then we learned "chill" for our stay cue while down.
And we learned "break" to release.

He will hold for a minute now, and that's with Gracie playing ball and getting treats near him. We don't get a minute every time, and he doesn't like to stick with it when meal prep is going on, but we practice.

The thing is, they haven't been able to be in the same room while meals are being prepared. So we've been working on it for about 10 days and they can now stay in the same room. It requires a lot of active cues to reinforce the separation, but it's huge progress from the fights described by their pawrents.

They have the same challenge with playing, attention, treat time. After almost 2 weeks, I can see the difference that insisting on "down" has made. I'm working on positive and appropriate play interactions (with major help from practicing "leave it")

I'm certified in R+ basic training and, while I don't claim to be a full service trainer, I have helped my clients learn new healthy behaviors and reinforce existing behaviors.

Gus and Gracie! An active sit with a pair that just met 2 months ago. And a beautiful location too.



They both have tons of energy

Gus is an 8 month old bernedoodle and he has no idea how big he is.

Gracie is a 4 year old boxer with a ball obsession

The deck views are amazing

Of course I bring out the puzzles. Gracie thought this was easy. Next time, I'll use the level 2 blocks.

A short but memorable farm sit.

It's a full house with 3 dogs, 8 cats, 2 horses, 22 chickens, 2 chicks, 4 roosters, 2 ducks, and 3 guinea fowl.

I won over the shy cat and skittish guard dog, cuddled with everyone (furry ones anyways), washed dogs, picked off ticks, collected eggs, sprayed horses, and constantly counted heads.

Even though it has been a very challenging sit, I have learned and loved here. I hope to come back and build on our friendships.

PS: I know a thing or two about dog vs skunk now. That's hard won experience that I prefer not to use again 😆 but I feel I've leveled up.

Reunited with Bowie and Lola Grace 🥰

I met them for the holidays and we had a great time. This is a short sit, just a few days, but it's so good to see them again.

Bowie has a neurological condition and some motor control challenges. He is also the happiest boy.

Lola is sporty and strong. She loves to have a good run and a game of keep away.

Their hoomans are so devoted to them and I am happy to be a part of their lives.
