Our Sanctuary Is Struggling — and I’m Asking for Help

Eight years ago, this land was my dairy farm. But when my heart and ethics changed, I made the hardest—and most important—decision of my life: to stop using animals, and instead, protect them. We closed the dairy, kept every single animal safe, and slowly transformed this place into a sanctuary.

Since then, we’ve rescued more than 2,000 animals and today care for nearly 500 souls—cows, pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, and more. Each one has a story, a past, and a life worth protecting.

In 2023, with a full year of feed costs saved, we took a leap and bought the land next door to expand—so our residents could have more space, safety, and comfort. But two years later, we haven’t had the funds to make that land usable. Our savings are gone, and each month now brings another shortfall.

Nearly 70% of our animals are elderly. In the next four years, we’ll see heartbreaking changes. All we want is to give them the golden years they deserve—years filled with peace, dignity, and love.

But right now, we’re in crisis.

We’ve lost over half of our recurring monthly donors—the support that kept us stable and allowed us to plan, to care, to survive. Just this year, three other sanctuaries have contacted us, desperate to place animals as they shut down. We’ve had to say no. We’re overwhelmed, underfunded, and terrified.

I’ve used my life savings trying to keep this sanctuary afloat. I’ve worked through grief, burnout, and the heartbreak of losing some of my oldest and dearest animal friends. I’ve pulled back from sharing, paralyzed by fear and exhaustion—and I know that’s cost us support.

It’s terrifying to admit all of this publicly. As a woman running a sanctuary, vulnerability is often met with judgment. But silence isn’t helping anymore.

We do have longer-term solutions in motion—plans that could help stabilize our future. But they won’t arrive fast enough to get us through the next few months. That’s why this moment matters so much.

If we don’t see a shift soon, we may have no choice but to close. An unthinkable, but I need to say, and change it, before it’s too late.

If you’ve ever believed in this mission, in the lives we’ve saved, or in me—please help us now. We are currently $3,000 short for our next hay delivery. We can’t get by without it.

A donation, a sponsorship, a share—every action makes a difference.

This sanctuary was built on the belief that every life matters. I still believe that. And I still believe we can make it through this, with your help.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. Thank you for standing with us.
