Today marks National Rainbow Bridge Day, a day when we can pause and reflect on all of the pets that have come and gone in our lives and the impact they made on us. Their time with us is temporary, but the impression they make lasts long after they are gone.

Our rainbow bridge was built on part of the Portland Trails network on the ARLGP campus by a community member in memory of his dog, Fenway.

We are thankful to have a place in our community dedicated to remembering our pets as enduring members of our family that will always stay with us.

..prevented pets from being surrendered to the shelter by offering care their owners can afford.
..provided life-saving treatments for conditions that may have gone undiagnosed.
..been the first vet visit a patient has ever had.
..given out more treats than we could possibly count.

Delilah is a sweet 8-year-old girl with lots of love to give. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality shines through. Delilah absolutely loves spending time with her favorite people and is happiest when she's getting pets, snuggles, or simply relaxing by your side.

"Delilah is such a sweet and smart girl who loves her people and her hot dog toy!" says Sophie, our Canine Care Technician. "It's incredible to see how much braver she's become just in the time she's been here."

We're celebrating Delilah in honor of Dogust with our friends at Town & Country Federal Credit Union Maine. Come visit her at the shelter and bring this sweet girl home!

FOSTER FILE: Goose is ready to be your wingman! Join him for a dip in the pool in his foster home, and hear from his foster Bill about why you should adopt him.

Goose has been in a foster home since May and it's been the perfect fit for this goofy, energetic dog. He may be a little shy at first, but if you can match his energy you'll make a friend for life.

His favorite things to do are to splash in the pool and zoom around the yard. He likes to stick to his people, and feels more comfortable just knowing you're there.

Bandit stole the show on ARC Maine on Friday! He got a chance to show off how smart and charming he is on live TV.

At 7 years old, Bandit has lived a full life and is looking for a loving home to give him the second chance he deserves. He'll need a home without other dogs, but we promise he has enough personality to make up for it.

Dog washes and lemonade stands... just a couple of projects by community kids this week to raise money for our pets.

Intelligence. Grace. Beauty. These traits are meaningless when compared to unequivocal, unconditional love. This is what Toot can offer you.

He may be a little floppier than other dogs, but he needs the extra skin to store his extra sunshine. Toot has yet to meet a person or dog that wasn't immediately his friend, although he can be a little overzealous in sharing that love.

Toot would do best with a family that wants to include him in everything, but also provide some structure and discipline so he can learn to channel these good vibes in the right direction.

Come meet Toot today and bring home pure happiness.

Cats sometimes have a reputation of being picky, judgemental or aloof. Sora and Ichiru are responsible for much of that reputation.

This pair of Tiny Tigers will require a little more patience coming home, and a family that doesn't mind admiring them from a distance at first while they warm up. Sora in particular has come around on accepting polite pets, although Ichiru still prefers to supervise.

Underneath a standoffish exterior, however, are two cats who so badly want a cozy spot to curl up, a family to care for them and, on occasion and on their terms, a little bit of loving. But only because you insist.

Sora and Ichiru have a colony room to themselves at the shelter, and we'd be happy to introduce you to these feline sour patch kids when you visit.
