Do you really know your dog trainer? 🐾
Matt White is a Master Dog Trainer and co-owner of The Trainer K-9 Services and Howl-A-Day Inn, LLC, located in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. With more than 25 years of professional experience, Matt has trained dogs for families, law enforcement, and military applications across the United States and overseas.
Matt began his career at the Vonfolcner K9 Training Facility in Santa Cruz, California, where he specialized in obedience, detection, and protection work. He went on to serve as a U.S. Army K-9 Handler, completing multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After his service, he continued advanced training under master trainer Andy Hanellin, focusing on search and detection disciplines.
Today, Matt brings that expertise to Cape Cod, where he works with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. His training programs include on- and off-leash obedience, behavior modification, protection and detection work, and tracking/agility development. Through The Trainer K-9 Services and Howl-A-Day Inn, Matt is committed to providing structured, results-driven training as well as safe, professional boarding and daycare services.
Beyond his professional life, Matt is deeply rooted in his family and community. He and his wife, Stacey, are raising a blended family of seven children, five grandchildren with one on the way, and enjoy the bustling, (sometimes) chaotic joy of a large household. They share their home with their two working dogs,a Belgian Malinois named Z and a Dutch Shepherd named Utah, who are as much a part of the family as they are part of the training team.
A former Army Ranger infantry dog handler, Matt’s discipline and resilience extend beyond his career. He and his wife love the outdoors, often taking time to enjoy Cape Cod’s back roads on their Harley, hiking the trails, and the simple adventures like driving his treasured 1969 Jeep, which has become a family heirloom in the making. His identity as a husband and father grounds him, and his commitment to faith, family, and hard work shapes the way he approaches both business and life.
Matt is known not only for his skill as a trainer but also for his character as a man who leads with integrity, loyalty, and quiet strength, values that resonate with clients who entrust him with their beloved dogs. k
