Meet JULES!
Jules is a sweet 2-3 year old Female Black Lab mix and she is looking for her Furever home - again. She was previously adopted here but recently returned through no fault of her own: her former family just didn't have enough time to give her the attention she deserves.
This Friendly girl loves people and is ready to be your loyal companion. We're not sure how she does with cats, but she's got plenty of love to give her humans.
The Best Part... Jules has been fully vetted and is ready to go home today --AND her adoption fee has already been paid for her new, approved family!
If you're looking for a loving, ready-to-go companion, Jules might be the perfect fit. Come meet her and give this deserving girl the second chance she's been waiting for!

THANK YOU to everyone who shared. Rue has found a home!!
COURTESY POST.
This sweet girl, RUE, is needing to be re-homed. No problems with Rue, at all, just too many dogs in the home where she is 'temporarily' staying, and now cannot go back to her previous owner. She is a mixed breed lady, weighing in at 64 lbs. She is good with children, other dogs, and cats. All of her vaccines are up to date, Rabies vaccine good until 4/27/27. Rue was born 2/22/2022 making her 4 yrs old. Rue is not at the shelter, but we can put you in touch with her current caretakers if you're interested in meeting her. Just comment on this post for more information, please.

Since it's Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, we thought it would be fun to 'Interview' ours on their thoughts about this job. (Which really means asking each other questions, since there's only the 2 of us) Here goes Casen's Interview:
What's your "On the Job" Superpower?
Casen: Managing to get Mean dogs OUT of the truck. We can get them in just fine, but getting them out.... THAT's a different story.
Who has been your Favorite dog since you started here?
Casen: Almost all of them are my favorites. Fitty, Bane & Sadie come to mind.
What's the funniest thing you've ever seen a dog do in the kennels?
Casen: Climbing upside down.
What's the most unique or 'strangest' animal you've encountered on this job?
Casen: Miniature kangaroos... an 80 lb Tortoise... a mean Parrot that cussed like a sailor.
What is the most rewarding part of this job?
Casen: When we adopt out a dog to a great home.
What is the best 'success' story you've had with a challenging animal?
Casen: Fitty! He was my Buddy! Just not at first.
How many times have you been tempted to take a pet home from the shelter?
Casen: EVERY day!
If you could teach the animals one human trick, what would it be?
Casen: To talk.
What is the best name you've seen for an animal in the shelter?
Casen: Akatosh, the non-wolf dog.
If you could take one dog home right now, who would it be and why?
Casen: Bane, because he's always happy & friendly and has been here way too long.
Who is the biggest personality currently at the shelter?
Casen: Dragon, the Cat.
What's the weirdest thing you've had to clean up?
Casen: Lots of worms.
What's something you never expected to say out loud at work?
Casen: "This turtle weighs 80 pounds!" and "Stop Licking me!"
Favorite Dog breed?
Casen: Husky
Dog Breed that tests your patience the most?
Casen: Hounds! and Shepherds.
If your work life was a movie, what would the title be?
Casen: Another Day, Another Stray
What's one moment that made it all worth it?
Casen: Adopting out Fitty!
Why do you keep coming back every day???
Casen: "Cause I love the Dogs."

This is Animal Control Appreciation Week. Since no one else (in the 14 years I've been doing this) ever recognizes what goes on here on the job, I wanted to take this week to say publicly, We appreciate the one and only Animal Control Worker (besides myself) for our County...CASEN!
Official titles include:
*Assistant
*Kennel Cleaner Extraordinaire
*Dog Handler
*Professional "You've Got to Be Kidding Me" Call Taker
*Professional Sounding Board to my Daily Rants
*Dog Spoiler/ Trainer/Treat Giver/ Walker"

Unofficial titles include:
*Master of the Side-Eye
*"That's Not In My Job Description" Specialist
*Keeper of My Sanity (whether he signed up for that or not)
*Excessive sprayer of the Odo-ban

In all seriousness, this job isn't easy. It's messy, unpredictable, sometimes heartbreaking, and often thankless. But somehow, Casen shows up and handles whatever gets thrown his way...whether it's a scared dog, a chaotic call, or...me.

So during Animal Control Appreciation Week, I just want to say:
-We see you!
- We appreciate you!
-And we're lucky to have you (even if you remind me daily what "isn't' in your job description".

Thanks for doing it all - and then some.
Now...Don't let this go to your head...We still have kennels to clean and hungry dogs to feed.

Stop dumping your dogs.
Spay/neuter your dogs.
Stop breeding your dogs.
Stop expecting shelters and rescues to clean up your mess. We are all overflowing!

Learn to adult and be at least bare minimum responsible if you are going to have a pet.

Shelters are full. Rescues are full. Dogs and cats are dying by the tens of thousands all over due to irresponsible and greedy humans.

Enough is enough.

We, the rescuers, are tired and heartbroken. 💔

Today is the Anniversary of Emma's own adoption day! So, let's get these amazing dogs into their own home so they can be as happy & loved as Wesley & Emma are! Thank you Marilyn for always helping our shelter pups 💛
