On Friday this boy finally let me have first touches! He isn’t even remotely close to being able to walk up and love in him like Guinness but neverless he allows me to reach out and touch his neck and shoulders. He also somehow got his tag off so I unfortunately won’t get the satisfaction of removing it myself but because of it he is officially named. I went back and forth on a few but settled on Atticus!

I have been a bit MIA on here since January but there hasn't been much to post about. Between it not wanting to stop snowing, mud season, and all around bad weather, not much riding as been done. Then last Friday finally happened and I have exciting news!
I purchased TWO wild mustang geldings! Both young, 6 and 4, and completely feral. The boys were rounded up in 2023 and come from Nevada.
Now just because they were wild horses doesn't mean they are crazy. We had various nose touches and neck scratches the first two days. By the third, the solid boy, was trusting enough to let me in the fence with him, demanding lots of love and scratches too. I was able to remove his neck tag, which is how the government facility he was held at identified him. He no longer is a number but instead he now is called Guinness.
The other boy has been a bit more timid. He is curious but hasn't accepted full scratches yet. Each day he gets more trusting. He lets me in his space and willingly eats hay from my hands. Unfortunately his tag fell off this morning so I won't get the satisfaction of doing that myself.
I am so excited to finally be living out this dream of working with completely unhandled horses! Even though it's been less than a week with them every day has been so rewarding and fun! I cannot wait to show you all their progress!

It’s been a long while since I posted an update! I personally dislike being outside during this time of year so the ponies get winters off. Which I really don’t think they mind. As soon as snow starts melting though, it’ll be time to get these potatoes into shape for the upcoming season!
Enjoy some recent photos of the herd!
