Gowe Farms Equine Retirement is proud to be a leader in customized care for senior horses. Our beautiful 320 acre family farm has been specifically designed for our retirees and is the most comprehensive program you will find anywhere.
Some things we whole heartedly believe in:
♡ Hands on our horses, every day. They may be retired from a career, but they should never be retired from love and attention. We check them over daily, pick feet, give bottomless treats and they enjoy weekly grooming sessions.
♡ Individualized diet plans based on their needs. We work closely with our vets, feed reps and dieticians to make sure that whole body health and wellness is achieved, no matter how complex a clinical profile may be.
♡ 24/7 monitoring, with management living on-site and state of the art camera system.
♡ Proactive medical care. We take health seriously and pride ourselves upon noticing subtle changes in physiology quickly, so that small problems do not become larger ones. We have a dedicated team of vets who have established relationships with all our horses. We can quickly arrange emergency transport to Cleveland Equine, Burton, Hagyard or Rood & Riddle if the need arrises.
♡ Gradual integration. We use a gentle, long game approach to teaching former show horses HOW to live the easy life. Many need time and patience to graze in a herd, make a friend or to learn how to turn out for long periods. We excell at making sure everything is done slowly and on their terms, with safe, calm and positive experiences, until they are ready. They are all capable, we have a 100% success rate!
♡ Transparency and Open doors. We want you to be up to date on your horse, even if you are further away than you wish. We are good communicators and have no problem telling you everything, daily even, if need be! We also welcome visitors and strongly encourage owners who are able, to come spend time!
♡ End of life care. We want your horse to live their best life for as long as they are comfortable, but sadly, they don't live forever. We offer caring and compassionate options for final days and help with every aspect of that difficult planning, from scheduled euthanasia to on-site burial and even simple services and memorials to honor your beloved partner.
