June is National Pet Preparedness Month, an opportunity to introduce our Disaster Preparedness Plan. You can get all the details in today's blog post (www.purrmorecats.com/blog/disaster-preparedness-plan).
You are an important part of being prepared for emergencies! Here are some things you can do to help your pet sitter keep your cat safe:
✅ Keep your cat's ID up-to-date - including microchip registration and tags on a breakaway collar.
✅ Teach your cat to love their carrier - an important life skill that can save your cat's life when evacuation is needed.
✅ Share emergency contact information with your pet sitter - use the Emergency Care Authorization form and your profile on the client portal.
✅ Build a cat emergency kit - ready to go if needed, including food, water, medication, and documentation.
✅ Create your own emergency preparedness plan - make sure your family and pets are ready. Get more information at ready.gov.

Hugging people is David Bowie's favorite thing! She is very special!
Today is "National Hug Your Cat Day", but please don't hug your cat (unless your cat is David Bowie). Although each cat is different, and some cats may love to be held, most cats don't like to be hugged. A hug can make your cat feel confined and stressed. They are likely to display body language that signals distress. In extreme cases, it could lead to them displaying aggressive behavior, which will be dangerous for both you and your cat.
There are so many other ways to show your cat you love them. Each cat has different preferences, and they may prefer pets, playing, or just hanging out next to you. Some cats will even climb into your arms to be held, but unless your cat is showing relaxed body language, hugging may not be the best option.
You can read more about it here: https://www.catster.com/guides/do-cats-like-hugs/.
