I was supposed to be posting so many happy things today. It's River's 7th birthday. That's a happy thing.
We had bred River the end of March to an amazing stud from Russia and were hoping to be announcing a litter confirmation by now. That's a happy thing.
Well, not only can I sadly NOT announce puppies, I have even more tragedy to tell --- our amazing, sweet River never made it to see her 7th birthday today. She got very sick suddenly last month. We had her hospitalized for a week, and then we took her to see specialists at the University, and we still couldn't save her. 😭😭
Our hearts are shattered into a million pieces. 3 weeks ago we sent her over the rainbow bridge.
The doctors were never able to figure out what was wrong. It is so hard not knowing. It is so hard not being able to fix her. It is so hard not having her sweet face right next to us.
I had saved half of Jesse's doggie birthday cake so River could have some when she came back from the hospital. 😢
I think today is the best day to eat that birthday cake now, and Flower, Jesse and Cherish will celebrate her heavenly birthday today with her.
Apologies for the long post. I leave you with some photos so you can share our memories of our amazing girl throughout her short time with us. Heaven is celebrating gaining an angel, that is for sure 🌈
