Thank you so much for the 5-star review!

From our first visit at Clear Lake Animal Hospital, I knew I made the right choice. Dr. Morris is hands down one of the best Veterinarian’s I’ve met. I appreciate her kindness, guidance, and hard work with taking care of my babies Dixie and Finn. From preventative care, annual checkups, to the holy crap what did my puppy do now situations lol I feel confident and comfortable with everything they do and suggest. All of her staff are amazing, kind and knowledgeable from the front desk ladies, to vet techs, to other Veterinarians she entrusts to be there when she’s not . This was in my top 5 of my most important decisions when moving to Florida, was finding a top notch Veterinarian . Look no further. Shoutout to Dr. Morris, Sarah, Carli, Dr. Braun, and the amazing ladies at the front desk.
Thank you! From Danielle, Dixie & Finn

LET’S BRUSH UP ON THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR PET’S DENTAL HYGIENE!
Just like humans, your dog or cat should have their teeth checked at their annual wellness exams at least once a year. Depending upon the severity of hygiene, your veterinarian will determine if your dog or cat will need a dental cleaning once or twice a year. Just like humans, x-rays are taken to look under the gum line to ensure there are healthy roots or if extractions are needed.

DID YOU KNOW THAT FOODS ARE SOME BASIC COMMON CONCERNS IN CATS AND DOGS?
Just like humans, when plaque and food are left behind in the mouth, it will create a breeding ground for bacteria which can irritate and cause inflammation. Have you ever looked inside your pet’s mouth and found loose or broken teeth, bad breath, bleeding, drooling or refused to eat or drink? Have you ever noticed tooth discoloration? Learning good dental hygiene is the same for pet as it is for humans. Daily brushing will improve your pets overall dental health and help prevent bad breath, loose teeth or periodontal disease. It also prevents bacteria from being swallowed into the body, spreading to other parts of the body causing other health concerns over time.

LET’S BRUSH DEEPER!
For some pets, brushing their teeth may take some getting used to. Introducing regularly scheduled home dental care in the beginning of the puppy or kitten stages will make this process easier as they grow into adulthood.

Suggestions: Start off by offering a taste of veterinary toothpaste. Then gently and slowly run your finger using a circular motion along the gum line of the upper teeth from the back to the front. Let your pet get used to this first before you brush the entire mouth. Try it when you and your pet are in a good mood and relaxed! Every pet is different, so this may take some time before it is a comfortable process. It is still a good idea to discuss a professional cleaning with your veterinarian.

Good hygiene and early prevention will keep your pet healthier and SAVE you money! Call our office to find out when our next Dental Promotion is scheduled.
