❌ MYTH: “My pet is mostly indoors, so they don't need flea and tick prevention.”

✅ FACT: Even indoor pets can be exposed to fleas and ticks.

Fleas can hitch a ride into your home on people, other pets, clothing, or wildlife. Ticks can also make their way indoors—and your dog or cat doesn't have to spend hours outside to be exposed.

🐾 IS PET INSURANCE WORTH IT? 🐾

It's a question we hear from pet owners all the time.

Pet insurance can help offset the cost of unexpected veterinary care, from accidents and injuries to illnesses that require diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, or ongoing treatment.

A few things to consider when comparing plans:

🔎 What does the policy actually cover?
💰 What's the deductible?
📋 Is there a reimbursement percentage?
⏰ Are there waiting periods?
🚫 Are pre-existing conditions excluded?
💵 Is there an annual or lifetime coverage limit?

There isn't one “best” plan for every pet or family. The important thing is understanding the policy before you need it.

Just a quick heads-up for our WNAC family! 🐾 We have two upcoming dates when West Newton Animal Clinic will be closed:

Friday, September 11

We will be open for regular business hours September 8-10.

📅 If your pet needs an appointment, medication refill, or other routine care before either closure, please plan ahead and give us a call!

As always, if your pet experiences a true emergency while we're closed, please seek care at your nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

As construction begins on the West Newton Bridge, motorists may experience lane closures, delays, and increased traffic in the area.

If you have an upcoming appointment at West Newton Animal Clinic, please plan ahead and allow extra travel time to ensure you arrive on schedule.

Curious pets sometimes learn the hard way that bees can sting.

A sting may cause mild swelling, but seek veterinary care right away if your pet has:
⚠️ Difficulty breathing
⚠️ Facial swelling
⚠️ Repeated vomiting
⚠️ Weakness or collapse

🏊 **Can Your Dog Find the Pool Steps?**

Many dogs can swim—but not every dog knows how to safely get out of a swimming pool.

Spend a few minutes teaching your dog where the steps or exit are before letting them swim.

Never leave pets unattended around pools, even if they're strong swimmers.
