It is with a heavy heart that that we announce that Jazzycat has gone to the rainbow bridge today. A kind veterinarian from Pittsburgh Pets at Home assisted in her peaceful journey. She was at least 19 years old.
She experienced a stroke last year and at that time it was found that she had an enlarged heart and hypertension. We were managing that but she recently began pulling the hair out on her hip joints due to severe arthritis pain and she is also experiencing severe cognitive degeneration (dementia). It is a very difficult decision to make, but it’s harder to watch her try to survive this diminished quality of life.
She spent the last week of her life in my bedroom (Mia and Piggy finally transferred to the salon area) getting so much one on one time. She slept in my bed the last 2 months. Yesterday, two of her best human friends came to visit. She got to go outside and eat grass and her bowl was full of treats instead of food.
Jazzy had a good life. She was adopted at the age of 3. She got to snuggle with, eat the hair of, sit in the lap of and climb on the shoulders of so many people and she thanks you all for the love that you all gave her over the years. Please don't be sad about her leaving. Be happy for the life she lived and the love she gave.

Rusty is going to be 18 years old in September.
About an hour and a half before this photo he looked like a gremlin that rifled through a trash can. As most Persian owners know, he had food all over his chin, eye goop on the inside of his paws and a turd stuck to his butt. His mom takes good care of him and keeps him on a regular schedule….its just classic older extreme - faced Persian stuff. 🤷‍♀️
His after isn’t as perfect as I’d have liked it to be, but then I realized that while his groom is a product of my skill, it’s also subject to his age, body mass, arthritis and him not knowing that he’s suppose to be a fancy cat and given all that I think he looks pretty darn good for a super senior cat. ❤️

(PS - No - I am still NOT taking any new customers)

Remember when I said change is never easy? I thought I planned for everything but Mother Nature had different ideas.
I am still waiting for our commercial Hvac unit to be installed, and while I have been able to keep the place comfortable when the outside temp is above a certain temperature, it has been difficult to do when it drop below that. Unfortunately, that has led to the cancelling of some days of appointments and the delay of rescheduling others.
For that reason, I have decided that I am not booking any more appointments until I have a more reliable heat source. I will honor current appointments scheduled, but will let you know 24 hours prior to your appointment if I feel that it is necessary to cancel due to the temperature.
I will be disabling the online booking feature. Once I find out when we have a stable heat source I will turn it back on.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this is causing. It is out of my control.

Change is never easy and the process of moving the shop has been no exception.
It’s finally all put together (I plan to do more updates as time permits)
These are the photos of the new space.
I am still waiting for the new split heat/ac unit to be installed but I have found a way to heat the space comfortably in the meantime. I am hoping it will be installed by the end of the month.
I did have to reschedule some appointments so my first priority is to get those rescheduled before I book any new appointments. Please give me a week before booking any new appointments online.
As you can see, there is ample parking. I am trying to schedule appts so there are none overlapping. You can park near the door, just don’t block anyone in. The spaces next to the pool are reserved for my family.
As you can see, it’s not far from the old shop. I can actually see the roof of the old location from the new location. The arrow shows the OLD location.
There is an entire page of the website dedicated to directions to the new location. You will receive a text with a link to this page before your next appointment.

As some of you already know, I have purchased a new home with a 2 car garage and will be moving the business there. We "PLAN" to re-open on January 3rd, however, we are still having the necessary remodeling work done and while I'm raring to go and ready to roll, the timeline depends on people who do things that I can't do myself. Don't worry. It will all work out. The new space is adequate for grooming but I will not be doing boarding any more. Jazzy, Mia and Piggy will be coming along. There is a separate space for my office and grooming, There will be a double door system for my grooming area and there is ample parking. It is VERY CLOSE to our current location. Reminder texts will include the new address and you will be sent a text with driving directions from the old to the new location within 1 week prior to your next appointment. I actually walked from the new to the current location in less than 5 minutes when it snowed last Tuesday.
Saturday December 20th will my LAST day grooming at the old location. After that it will be a mad dash to move get everything done and moved out of the old location. We DO NOT have any appointments available until we re-open. I am STILL not accepting any new customers. In the last 10 years I have opened an ice cream shop, closed an ice cream shop, moved my business 3 times, remodeled a cabin, moved into a new house and fostered over 75 cats. I need a break.
I will post more information when the shop is completed.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share some pictures of a few of the super senior cats that I groom. The black cat on the black table is Gabby and she is 20 years old. The black cat in the birthday photo and on the cake is Jade and she was groomed on her 21st birthday. Special thanks to my groomer friend Angie for creating that background for her picture. I just groomed the white kitty sprinkles today and her daddy said that she was at least 14 but her card indicates that she is 17.
I have been grooming 2 of these cats since at least 2015 and Gabby started coming in 2010.

Pitten wanted me to tell you that she just turned 21 years old. She looks great for her age, right? Grooming pitten is not about looks, it’s about comfort. Pitten has a standing 8 week grooming appointment.
Like many older cats, Pitten sleeps a lot. She has arthritis and can not get into the positions she needs to help herself. The oils on her skin become excessive. That causes her hair to stick in her coat. She lays around, keeping all her hair tightly compressed. That causes matting. It is VERY hard on her to have to be shaved and she doesn’t have the tolerance to have even tiny tangles combed out. I bathe Pitten to remove the excessive oil build up and blow dry her with a gentle yet forceful high velocity dryer to remove the hair. Coming in every 8 weeks for a bath is easier on Pitten, just like it’s easier to change your oil on a regular basis, rather than to replace your whole engine.

Good morning! I will be turning the online booking back on *later this afternoon*.
I had a wonderful week off. Here are some photos that show the beauty of Iceland. I have some customers who are going this summer so I brought back coupon books for them. 😂
I was only in Iceland for 4 1/2 days. I took some extra time off afterwards to rest from vacation and thank goodness I did because the passenger behind me who was sniffling every 15 seconds shared her cold with me.

More cats and cat stuff. Almost every cat that I’ve met here has been napping.

Another cat sighting. I saw this cat in the window at Iceware. They said his owner came to take him out of the window. He lives at the shop across the street.
I saw him there and talked to his owner. Very nice man. I walked back up the street five minutes later he was back in the window at Iceware. 😂 He is 15 years old.
Typical cat.
