It is with a heavy heart that that we announce that Jazzycat has gone to the rainbow bridge today. A kind veterinarian from Pittsburgh Pets at Home assisted in her peaceful journey. She was at least 19 years old.
She experienced a stroke last year and at that time it was found that she had an enlarged heart and hypertension. We were managing that but she recently began pulling the hair out on her hip joints due to severe arthritis pain and she is also experiencing severe cognitive degeneration (dementia). It is a very difficult decision to make, but it’s harder to watch her try to survive this diminished quality of life.
She spent the last week of her life in my bedroom (Mia and Piggy finally transferred to the salon area) getting so much one on one time. She slept in my bed the last 2 months. Yesterday, two of her best human friends came to visit. She got to go outside and eat grass and her bowl was full of treats instead of food.
Jazzy had a good life. She was adopted at the age of 3. She got to snuggle with, eat the hair of, sit in the lap of and climb on the shoulders of so many people and she thanks you all for the love that you all gave her over the years. Please don't be sad about her leaving. Be happy for the life she lived and the love she gave.
