This quarter pony has probably the fastest extended trot I’ve ever seen. Open trails is where she succeeds. We are working on her with tighter and rougher trails to take out that flight instinct when she gets into a squeeze.

I don’t remember to post on here like I should but here’s another horse in for training making leaps and bounds. So excited for our client to get him back and see what he can do!

If you didn’t make it to Road to the Horse you missed an amazing weekend. The competitors were top notch trainers. Mike Major Horsemanship with the win defending his title from last year. He’s got solid training skills and amazed me. JR Robles was my pick from day one and earned my utmost respect even though he didn’t get to finish the course, he listened to his heart, horse, and gut and called it when his horse mentally couldn’t continue. He’s a true horseman and deserves all the respect in the world. Cole Cameron also did a solid job, and busted his rear making huge strides in the last day with his “Hi-C” and made his legend father, Craig Cameron, proud I’m sure. Guy McLean did an amazing job with some freedom training with his buckskin and is truly a talent and humble. The buckskin will make an amazing horse for freedom. These guys came out and really rocked it. I’ve learned so much that I intend to take forward into my own training practices.

What an AMAZING team at Road to the Horse in Lexington, Ky. These girls are from Allen, Texas and they are the Woodhaven Wranglers! They are phenomenal. Nothing but respect for their discipline.

This fella is moving right along. Not a bad way to start 2023 training season.

A farmer’s daughter.

Sometimes you wonder if you are raising her right, because “all you do” is work on the farm. But here is a little secret, that is not “all you do”.

You may think you are just teaching her how to open a gate and pour feed into buckets. But you are really showing her what hard work and responsibility look like. You are showing her independence and what the strength of a woman is. You are showing her how to respect people and how to respect animals. You are teaching her manners and providing her with unique knowledge about agriculture that is not as common in today’s society.

You may think she is just off playing with the chickens and exploring her imagination, but she is not. She is always watching you. Watching your every move. Little do you know, she is learning. She is learning from exposure. She is learning from watching you work every. single. day.

So keep making her open those gates. Keep making her separate the feed into buckets. Keep making her do her part on the farm. The skills she learns from these small tasks will build her foundation of being a strong independent woman, and these skills will carry her far in life.

Just so you know, you are raising her right.

“Here’s to strong women. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.”
