👋🏼 I know, I haven't posted on here for awhile due to personal reasons, mainly grieving and navigating the loss of my three dogs. I'm here to educate and a question was asked, so I thought this was a good time to do that.
I posted this photo on my personal FB page and I got a message asking why I have two collars and her leash on in the house. This is a good question!
Khaleesi is currently not cat-friendly. It's something we're working on it. At my house, my cat is safe in her own bedroom. At this house, the cat is in a separate room, but she has occasionally escaped that room. For the cats safety, Khaleesi is kept on her training collars and leash. She is perfectly content with them on. She is also still training, so they're necessary for the time being.
Why two collars? The chain collar is added protection in the instance the prong collar comes undone. It happens. When properly used, these collars do not harm dogs in any way. I've trained dogs without the use of either of these collars. I've trained dogs using only the chain collar. And I've trained dogs, like Khaleesi, that have only responded to the prong collar. Each dog is different and you have to figure out the best training tools & techniques to use with each dog.
So again, Khaleesi is perfectly fine wearing these in the house while out of her crate. They provide extra safety in the event that the cat escapes her room while Khaleesi is here.
