Ruff House Rescue Accountability Project

Ruff House Rescue Accountability Project It is our opinion that Ruff House Rescue of LI, NY is not a real rescue. See our posts to learn about their inhumane conditions and other concerning details.

This project is driven by my deep love and concern for animals. I formerly volunteered for Ruff House Rescue, and I am here to share what I learned and help with the learning process for others. I encourage everyone to explore and learn the facts for themselves. However, I think it would be irresponsible of anyone to continue to support Ruff House Rescue after being alerted to the content in the p

ostings. It is incumbent upon anyone who doubts what I post to do further research. Research can include contacting officials and others on the ground. Research is not about customer satisfaction, as that says nothing about the animals who are not adopted.

There is so much here!

Ruff House Rescue has systematically operated in secrecy across multiple poorly supervised locations, consistently exposing dogs to troubling conditions while denying wrongdoing.

We really need your help — both in spreading the word and in speaking up.

A lot of people still haven’t seen our post about contacting the Suffolk County DA, and it's crucial we reach those who’ve seen or experienced something troubling involving Ruff House Rescue, especially since they moved to West Islip.

If something didn’t sit right, even if you weren’t sure what to do at the time, please speak up now. The Suffolk County District Attorney is investigating, but they need to hear directly from the public.

Report here:

(Choose “Animal Abuse, Neglect” from the dropdown.)

Please share this. Thank you!

"According to the documents, Ruff House volunteers repeatedly informed Indelicato of Tali's worsening medical condition, including severe dermatological distress such as fur loss, irritated skin and an inflamed abdomen. In addition, records say the gray and white dog suffered from large, ulcerated masses leaking blood and pus on her abdomen; swollen limbs; general physical deterioration; inability to eat or drink without help; and difficulty breathing despite shelter volunteers repeatedly requesting medical help for the dog."

Newsday just confirmed what many of us have known: Diane Indelicato, director of Ruff House Rescue, has been charged with animal cruelty after a dog named Tali died in their care. Despite warnings from workers that Tali needed emergency veterinary attention, those warnings were ignored.

Newsday’s article is important, but it only scratches the surface. There are systemic failures behind the scenes, not just this one incident.

Please don’t assume others will take action. Too often, no one does. Here’s how you can help:

- Write a Letter to the Editor in response to Newsday’s article- [email protected]
- Ask Newsday for deeper coverage- 631-843-2700 or [email protected]
- Contact other news outlets. (See below)
- Share the Newsday article throughout social media.

Points to Consider:
- Tali’s death is not an isolated case. It reflects a longstanding pattern of neglect.
- Ruff House Rescue is also facing eviction proceedings.
- The group has a pattern of operating unsanitary facilities and transporting sick dogs.
- They have been banned from holding adoption events at major pet stores across Long Island.
- This is not about customer service or adoption experiences, it’s about what happens when no one is watching.

It’s time for the full story to be told. Speak out and help protect the animals who are still at risk.

Contacts for other outlets:
