We would like to thank Mr. Brian Harper for his generous offer to cut the dog park! Their family recently adopted a dog from us and they’re regulars at our park. This is how our community works together!!

The dog park will close for maintenance around 12:00 on Friday 4/18 and will reopen when he is done.

If you’re interested in getting on the schedule to help, please reach out so we can continue providing a safe place for the dogs of our area!

Hello Barktopia members!!

As some of you are aware, the grass at the dog park is getting pretty long. The dog park is an extension of Hub City Humane Society and does not receive any funding to help maintain the property.

🐾We are looking for a volunteer or two to help maintain the grass at the dog park. Volunteers would have to provide their own equipment.

The shelter does not have the staff or funds to keep up with the shelter property and the dog park at this time. We hope we can find a solution in order to keep the dog park open for the Hattiesburg public. If we are unable to find help, we will have to close down the park due to unsafe conditions for visitors.

Do you recognize this dog? Today, someone came to the dog park and started asking if anyone knew someone who could take it. As the dog began to play, the owner took off and left it abandoned in our park. The dog sprinted after the owner and was so upset. This is the second time this week this has happened. We cannot survive and continue to do what we do if dogs and animals keep being dumped. This is not the answer! We take dogs, but we have a system to protect our animals and the animal coming in. We only can handle so many animals because of space, funds and employees. Please help us find this owner and please stop dumping animals before we are one of the many shelters who have to close!
