Did a little golden hour photoshoot with my Tucker Boy 🩶
Backstory:
I grew up with smaller dogs, had some unpleasant interactions with dogs when I was younger and I developed a ‘distaste’ for them. As I got older I realized the interactions had more to do with the pet owners than the pets themselves.
Fast forward I moved in with my now husband, he was working a hurricane in Puerto Rico and I moved into a new home, in a new state with a new dog. 🐕 Gibbs. He was much older than we realized but still a beautiful sweet pain in the butt. I learned so much about selfless love and care and patience. He was labeled a “menace” and he learned to mimic the kindness and love modeled by Chris.
When he passed two summers ago he left a big mark on me. We started a business in his honor, to help doggos that needed a little more trust and patience. And now my entire world resolves around dogs and living my best life
Fast forward to 4 months after Gibbs passing, we weren’t “ready” for another dog, but Juniper was sad and bored and we met Tucker and he kind of fit right in.
He was a rescue from down south, and only arrived at his foster home 3 days prior to us adopting him. He was extremely malnourished, living on the streets, and untrusting of most.
First day we met he put his (giant) paw on my leg and I knew it was the right fit. It’s been a journey to say the least.. of fighting amongst our dogs, gating up our whole house, talking Tucker down from his fits, 5 months of staying at home during his heartworm treatment, growls, separation anxiety.. tears and frustration, considering whether he was the right fit here. But we knew we were the right people to help him.
And now he trusts. He knows we come back everytime we leave. He learned how to give and receive kisses. Him and his sister lay together whenever possible now, and he has a home, and that’s incredibly special.
Gibby walked so he could run 🐾 And I’m convinced he sent us the perfect pup to make the hole in our family wholesome again.
