How Polly the Pug Met Maple Syrup 🍁🐾
A couple weeks ago at daycare… we had two new girls start the same week.
Polly the Pug.
And Maple… aka Maple Syrup 🍁
Neither one knew what they were walking into.
Polly showed up like,
“I have arrived.”
(Maple didn’t know there was an arrival protocol.)
Maple walked in like,
“Hi… I’m just gonna… stand here and see what happens.”
Then it happened.
They made eye contact.
And you could literally feel both of them thinking:
“Are you my problem today?”
Slow… cautious… nose-to-nose.
No barking. No drama. Just a very serious, silent agreement being negotiated.
Polly: “So… you new too?”
Maple: “…yeah.”
Polly: “Cool. Wanna make bad decisions together?”
That was all it took.
Within minutes, they went from strangers to full-blown chaos partners.
Polly hit her with the classic:
zero warning zoomies + surprise wrestling move.
Maple had about 0.5 seconds to process before Polly rolled underneath her like a loaf of bread with attitude.
Maple’s face said it all:
“Oh… we’re doing this.”
Next thing you know —
they’re circling, bouncing, pawing, flopping, and acting like they’ve known each other since puppyhood.
Fast forward…
Now they’re:
✔️ sniffing like detectives
✔️ cuddling like besties
✔️ wrestling like unpaid UFC fighters
Two completely different dogs…
same exact energy once they clicked.
Daycare rule #1:
Sometimes you don’t need a slow introduction…
Sometimes you just need another dog willing to match your level of nonsense.

And just like that… a friendship was born 🍁🐾
