🐾 FOUND DOG — WEST COLUMBIA (Dreher Rd Area)

🆘 This girl had been roaming near Dreher Rd for several days, and I’ve been keeping an eye on her. I set up a feeding station to make sure she stayed in the area and had consistent food while I worked on a safe plan to help her.

💗 Once she was reliably returning to the station, I reached out to Connie with For the Love of Street Dogs, who kindly allowed me to borrow her trail camera and large trap. With her support, I was able to safely trap this girl at 3 AM this morning. This was my first time ever setting a large trap, and I’m incredibly grateful for Connie’s help and guidance.

☮️ She is now safe and on her official stray hold while we search for her owners.

This sweet mama is very underweight and appears to have recently had puppies, so she will need vetting as soon as possible. If you’d like to support her care, donations are greatly appreciated and go directly toward her medical needs.

🥹 Bernie is curled up in his dimmed‑light kitty tent tonight, finally getting some rest. He’s so tired — from the meds, from the poking and prodding, and honestly from everything he’s already been through in his short little life.

🐾 He’s quarantined while he finishes antibiotics, eye meds, and his ringworm treatment, but even with all that going on he’s still the sweetest boy. He purrs, he tries, he wants love… he’s just worn out.

He did not enjoy having his blood drawn (and who could blame him), but he handled it like the tiny 1.4‑lb fighter he is.

📣 Meet Bernie — The Orange Kitten No One Helped, So I Did 🧡

I learned about this tiny orange kitten from a Facebook post. More than 24 hours went by and no one stepped up to help him… so of course I had to.

🐱 His name is Bernie, he’s an estimated 7‑week‑old male, and he’s been struggling with an upper respiratory infection.

🐾 Bernie is now safe with me and will be starting antibiotics and receiving fluids to keep him hydrated while he recovers. He’s eating well, alert, and already showing that sweet orange‑boy personality.

Some dogs break your heart quietly. Button is one of them.

🆘 She has been at the shelter since February 24, and the stress has taken such a toll that she has lost her voice from barking and crying in her kennel. She has had diarrhea for months because her body can’t handle the constant rotation of donated foods or the stress of living in a kennel 23 out of 24 hours a day.

Her kennel mate was adopted.
Button is still waiting.

🩷 This weekend, I brought her home for a break. Her white patches were stained yellow from lying in her kennel, so I gave her a bath, good food, and a quiet place to rest. She melted into it. She appreciated every second.

🌟🌟 Button’s kennel behavior is stressful — but that is not who she is.

Outside the kennel, she walks beautifully on a leash. She is timid but strong, gentle, and so ready to trust someone who shows her confidence and love.

She is my favorite dog at the shelter right now.

She deserves a home where she never has to lose her voice again.

💙 Lexington County offers Dog Day Out and fostering, and if nothing else, Button deserves that chance. Even a few hours or a weekend away would mean the world to her.

Most of you remember Pearl — the mama who came into the shelter very sick while caring for her puppies. Her babies were adopted quickly, but Pearl is still waiting for her person.

🌸 She has come such a long way since intake. She’s feeling better, gaining confidence, and showing her sweet, gentle personality every day.

She is 2 years old, 22 lbs, spayed, vetted, HW‑negative, and ready to meet her forever family.

🐈🐈‍⬛Meet Wini — the tiny Halloween‑colored calico who needed someone to show up for her.

🐾 I saw a post about a kitten sitting alone in a storm drain at a busy car wash, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed help fast. Cars were constantly coming and going, and she was just… there. When I got to her, she wasn’t wet or scared — she was friendly, sweet, and eager for attention, like she’d been waiting for someone to notice her.

⛈️ And I got to her just in time — we’re expecting a bad storm tonight, and she was sitting in that storm drain with no protection. I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if no one had gone.

😻 Her beautiful mix of black, orange, and white instantly reminded me of Hocus Pocus, so I named her Wini.

Wini will be fully vetted and then available for adoption once she’s ready.

🌸 Meet Lucy.

She is an 8‑year‑old black and white Chihuahua whose whole world changed when her owner went into hospice care.

My vet office called me about her situation, and the moment I heard her story, I knew she needed a safe place to land. So she came home with me.

🩷 Lucy was born with congenital kidney disease, but she has been beautifully managed her entire life. She eats a kidney‑friendly diet and gets subcutaneous fluids once a week — it sounds intimidating, but it’s incredibly simple, and I’ll happily teach her adopter. She’s used to it and handles it like a champ.

She is gentle, quiet, and deeply sweet. She’s grieving right now, but she still leans in for love. She deserves a soft, steady forever home where she can feel safe again.

Lucy is:

• Looking for a calm, loving home
