Last week we lost another OG, this time our beloved homebred Rocky Road. Having owned Rocky’s mother and two siblings as well, he was a cherished teacher, continuing to teach lessons and win hearts. Born in 1997 and by Carol Thompsons Two of Kind, Rocky never horse showed much but in his more than 28 years he started countless young riders on their horse loving journey. His dam, Solid Gold aka Just A Charm competed in the pony hunters for many years and his brother Tristan’s Gold also won many accolades, competing at Pony finals and zone 2 finals. 1998-2025
We said goodbye this week to one of our longest and dearest. Keeneland a.k.a. Leland came to us when we most needed him. He won blue ribbons up and down the East Coast for many years, including hack wins at WEF, Zone 2 Finals, Lake Placid and Marshall and Sterling Finals.

Always a character, he never lost his personality, pawing and licking, always demanding attention. A true redhead at heart some of his many accomplishments included:

2007 champion PHSA, Reserve Champion EPPHA
2008 year end champion PHSA, EPPHA, Zone 2 Horse of the Year
2009 8th WIHS horse show.

He also played equitation mount qualifying Marissa for numerous finals, claiming second and third himself in the MHSA adult medal Finals. He participated in the ANRC Finals claiming a pair of 89s at St. Andrews University. He would have made a phenomenal national derby horse.

He even had a final ride in the field this summer, we will miss you dearly Lele.

Yesterday our founder and head trainer E Gaye Goldemen Cohen earned the PHBA award for lifetime contribution to the equine industry in Pennsylvania from the PHSA. This well deserved award was alongside her long time pony Top Secret getting his induction into the PHSA Hall of Fame. We couldn’t be more proud.

Gaye would like to say these words in regards to her award:
“I am honored and humbled to be awarded the lifetime achievement by the PHSA. Having been a past vice president and co-president for many years the award is even more special.
In my 50 years I have had the privilege of having some of the best riders, horses and ponies. It has been a long journey but the passion and the true respect for the people and the sport have helped me achieve this great honor.
I would like to thank my family for the early mornings, late nights, sick horses, and missed games that allowed me to follow my passion.
Thank you everyone who sent messages which were put into a book to cherish.”
