🚨 Meet LEONARD 🚨
HIT BY A CAR. OPEN WOUNDS. UNABLE TO WALK.
That was all we knew about him. But when we saw the euthanasia deadline, we couldn’t let this puppy die—not without trying.

We are exhausted, financially drained, and at our limit...
But Leonard needed someone.
And we said yes.

Leonard was brought to Orange County Animal Services by a Good Samaritan who saw him get hit by a car. He was alive but unable to walk. The shelter issued a FINAL PLEA for rescue... and the clock began to tick. One extension came. Still no rescue.

With time running out, we committed. We had a foster offer and hope. But heartbreakingly, the night before transport, the foster backed out. Still, we refused to let Leonard die alone in a shelter cage.

Thursday night, Leonard arrived in Tampa.
(Thank you Ellie for the last-minute transport.)

What we found was both heartbreaking and hopeful:
Leonard has facial abrasions, deep wounds on his legs, and white paint still on his tail—evidence of the chaos he endured. But somehow...
LEONARD CAN WALK.
He’s sore and favoring a front leg, but this baby is stronger than anyone imagined.

He was immediately taken to our vet at Paws Bay Animal Hospital for treatment, pain meds, neuter, and a full exam. And he is truly... amazing.
Only 8 months old, not the year-old pup the shelter guessed.

💙 Here’s what we’ve learned about Leonard:

He loves stuffed toys and Benebones—especially his green alligator.

He adores other dogs, especially those who can tolerate his sweet, playful, puppy antics.

He’s a total cuddlebug. He wants to be near his people—on the couch, in bed, or by your side.

He’s gentle. He’s resilient. He’s a survivor.

❗URGENT NEED: We need a FOSTER ASAP.
His current stay was only temporary—their travel plans mean he now faces being placed in boarding, which was never the plan. Boarding buys time... but it’s not a home.
And after all he’s been through, Leonard deserves better.

Maggie is a wonderful young lady who leashes up easily and walks alongside her handler beautifully. She has shown positive responses to other dogs nearby and previously lived with canine companions before arriving at the shelter. Maggie is estimated to be between 2 and 6 years old and weighs 56 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated. Come meet her at Citrus County Animal Services! 4030 S. Bizzy A2468836 is a sweet, 6-year-old intact female weighing 40lbs. Bizzy is heartworm positive and facing several medical challenges, yet her temperament has remained wonderfully gentle. She’s been calm and easy to handle with staff, walking well on leash.

On intake, Bizzy presented with cloudy eyes and crusting consistent with entropion, enlarged mammary glands—including a large, partially ulcerated tumor—and moderate dental issues including broken teeth and tartar. She also had live fleas and showed signs of mild anemia. Despite it all, her mucous membranes were pink and moist, and her heart and lungs auscultated normally.

Exam confirmed entropion with lichenification of both eyelids, marked mammary development with multiple masses, and a pendulous abdomen on palpation. Given her age and overall condition, bilateral mammary chain resection is not recommended. Surgical removal of the ulcerated tumor and spay are advised for comfort. However, PRC is currently unable to provide this care within a timely manner.

Bizzy deserves a chance to heal in a loving, low-stress environment where her medical needs can be addressed.. She’s proven to be a cooperative, kind dog despite the obstacles she faces.
