Lucy has been with me for a couple of weeks and is really coming out of her shell. Here is a pupdate:
🐾 Lucy is great on a leash and loves to go for walks. Our walks have been getting longer (when it’s not too hot).
🐾 She is also great in the car. The trip to my parents’ takes 4.5 hours. She enjoyed looking out the window and lying on her blanket in the back seat.
🐾 This girl is completely housebroken. To this day, she has not had a single accident in my house or my parents’. I did put a doggy diaper on her for a couple of days in each place to be safe, but quickly found that it wasn’t needed. She thrives on being outside and prefers to do her business there.
🐾 Lucy can be left to roam the house when I go to bed or have to go somewhere. She’s a good girl! She sometimes does a cute little howl during those times, but it sounds like she’s singing to the music I leave on for her. 😂
🐾 She still prefers to sleep on a cozy blanket or a rug. I have dog beds and she wants nothing to do with them. Also, I left my bedroom door open last night, so she could sleep there if she wanted to, and she still slept on the rug in my living room and on her blanket in the kitchen. She only came in my room to wake me up this morning when she needed to go out.
🐾 In the last couple of days, Lucy has been more trusting and has been accepting pets from my family. Yay! She wants to know where I am all of the time and will lie at my feet while snoozing. My mom and I picked her up and held her, too. She didn’t like it at first, but calmed down pretty quickly and seemed to enjoy the pets. We’ll keep practicing. I think she’ll understand and like this in time.
🐾 She is great with other dogs (and cats, too). Lucy just sniffs to say “hi” and then is comfortable with them.
🐾 Lucy has started to play! She seems to prefer woodsy, natural toys… like sticks and pinecones. I kicked a pinecone on one of our walks and she ran after it, picked it up, tossed it, pounced on it, and did it again. It was SO adorable. She is still not interested in actual dog toys, though. 🤷♀️
🐾 Lucy would love to run freely and has started playfully running a few times on her leash. A fenced yard would be amazing. On our way home, we stopped at a gas station that happened to have a fenced area for dogs and she loved being let off her leash.
🐾 My favorite thing about Lucy is her cute little “tap dance” she does when she is excited. She especially does this when I wake up or when I come home. She is the sweetest. She taps her front paws, smiles, and wags her tail. She also runs little laps around my living room and then comes to give kisses (video in comments).
This cutie pie is ready for a forever home with a family that will work with her and watch her continue to blossom. To apply for Lucy, go to rescue.fluffydog.net.
