I’m not taking anymore fosters for a bit because of some renovations on my kitchen (I don’t want to stress a pup out with the noise and chaos), but thought I’d share a reel of the pups I’ve had so far. I enjoyed putting this together and seeing my pups all in one place. I had some of these dogs for only a day and some for over a month. It has been such a fulfilling journey seeing them blossom and go to great homes!

The good, the bad, the ugly, and the best:

Good: Cruz and I came home from our adventure up north today. He was hesitant there at first but then started to come out of his shell. He loved walking and being on the dock by the lake. He had no accidents while we were there, so I think I can say he is housebroken! He was also warming up to my sister’s dog which made me happy, because he just freezes around big dogs when we’re on walks. It was cute to see him with Panda. The size difference is hilarious.

Bad (but hopefully manageable): I learned that Cruz is terrified of thunder and fireworks. We had both last night, which is why we came home today. I feel like I can calm him more in my house than I can in my parents’ open concept/multi level house. We spent a lot of time in the basement there last night. Now that we’re home, he has chosen my bathroom as his safe place. I have dog-calming music blasting (seems like a contradiction… thank you, “Merlin’s Realms” on YouTube) and I’m giving him all of the snuggles he wants.

Ugly: Another reason we came home was because ticks are REALLY bad this year, so this is my PSA: Please be on top of your dog’s flea, tick, and heartworm meds. Thankfully, Cruz had his doses of them, so I only found dead ticks on him. On myself, however, I had two of the tiniest ticks I’ve ever seen already embedded. Think “poppy seeds.” As a precaution, I get to be on antibiotics for 10 days.

The Best: It looks like Cruz is getting adopted! I will miss him, but I can’t wait for him to get to share his sweet, silly self in his furever home where he will be the best little companion. 🥳🥳🥳

Cruz is on his first road trip. We’re visiting my parents in the Wisconsin north woods. He was a champ for the 5 hour car ride. The first night was a little bumpy for him… not the best night’s sleep with new space, new sounds, and new faces, but he is LOVING walks in the woods and by the lake with no construction sounds or kids riding their bikes too close to him. He is also warming up to my sister’s 65 lb poodle. Cruz is a bit shy with everyone at first, but once he gets love, patience, and belly rubs, he comes around and is the sweetest little companion.
