I’ve lost quite a few client dogs the past few weeks but today we lost one of our own sweet babies. In the wee hours of this morning, we said one of our hardest goodbyes to the most special boy ever. Getting the diagnosis of kidney disease last spring, I knew we were on borrowed time. We had over 12 years together, but even 100 wouldn’t have been enough. Pete the Cat was the sweetest, most snuggly, talkative boy. His cat (and dog) siblings would all tell you he was their favorite snuggle buddy. If I sat down, he’d come sit on my lap for hours. He always wanted to be near us no matter what we were doing. He would make a space for himself even if it wasn’t comfortable. He also talked to us. A lot. I think he knew as many words as a dog. He answered back, demanded attention and responses if he wasn’t getting one. I’m not sure what to do with the quiet void of not having my buddy sitting on the counter talking to me while I make breakfast. If you opened the pantry, he’d tap you for treats or food. Even if he got some a few minutes ago. Petey we are tremendously sorry that your body failed you and that we couldn’t make you better. You have so many friends waiting, but Josephine and Molly will need you the most. Take care of your girls until we see you all again. 💙🌈🐈‍⬛

Socks almost always comes to greet me when I walk in his house because he loves his wet food that he gets with his insulin. This morning he did not care that I was there and gave me a little scare! He was easy to find though! 😍
