🌀 There is always a pivotal moment our clients reach during their Leadership Development sessions with us. It's a sudden moment with a lightening awareness, shown wildly across their faces after having worked through challenges, reconfigured their approaches, and earned some success. As a Facilitator, I stand back, smiling and quietly give them the space to "let that sink in," as they ruminate on their new breakthrough "aha moment."

✨ 💡 These moments are truly remarkable. We love witnessing the "light bulb" moments where old bad habits intersect with truth, surprise, and delight, thereby matched with their renewed energetic enthusiasm. Blind spots are then replaced with strong communication and leadership skills. Alas, with their newfound self awareness and joyous sense of freedom that abounds, our clients have effectively stepped into an effective leadership presence and developed new high level replacement skills.

🦹 There's nothing quite like a horse that sees through the masks we wear around others to portray a version of ourselves we want others to see. You see, you cannot fool a horse. Not even from a far distance away. Yet, the beautiful part is - unlike us, horses don't judge us and will offer 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances. You are then rewarded when your interactions with the horse become congruent with healthy a leadership presence.

🎯 Our Equine Partners provide specific and personalized moments that reveal exactly what you need to improve upon in your leadership style.

🤔 So...ask yourself, "What don't I know about my Leadership style that is getting in the way of (fill in the blank)." You don't know what you don't know...but the horse does! 🐴

🙌Healthy and strong relationships --in our families, with co-workers, our friends, and social groups - all have something in common: we care about each other. We show that we care in how we show up for others.

🐴For horses (and donkeys), one of the ways you see this demonstrated is through mutual grooming. Grooming builds relationships as they scratch each other's backs. When humans groom horses, it's building the horse-human relationship as well. Horses are much more willing to listen and trust us when you take the time to groom them.

📅Today is National Everything You Think Is Wrong Day..."a time for all to contemplate our own lack of knowledge."

⚡️"While you might think it would be ok to point out how wrong others' thoughts are, you'd still be wrong."

🐎Horses have an incredible way of making us reflect on our own actions, beliefs, and methods to achieve desired results.

🎯In Equine Assisted Learning Sessions, our Equine Partners challenge your way of thinking as they open the door to expanding your understanding, offering a new way of thinking. These magical moments that happen in the arena are like taking off the glasses you've been wearing with dirty lenses, clouding your view, unbeknownst to you!

🌟Your newfound awareness now provides clarity and truth. For most, this lightbulb moment creates a wonderful sense of freedom--freedom from old destructive patterns that withheld you from reaching goals...freedom over barriers to deep, meaningful relationships.

💥Armed with truth, you have the opportunity to grow, evolve, and learn new skills to counteract the old behaviors--in the arena with our Equine Partners that reinforce positive change.

✨So...what are you wrong about today?

🌟And if you think you don't need Equine Assisted Learning, well, for today at least....you'd be wrong about that, too! 😉

Lessons From the Herd

Relationships built on trust can weather storms and grow together. Yet, the signs are glaring when trust is lacking in relationships, teams, and organizations. Chaos, low morale, and withholding ideas and information extinguishes any glimpse of innovative collaboration and purposeful intention.

What can we glean from herd dynamics here?

Horses instinctively know their survival depends in part, on trust within the herd. They rely on each other to meet their basic needs and deeply understand how important working together is for their longevity and individual survival. After all, they have been around for over 55 million years!

One of the ways you can observe a high level of trust within the herd is when they sleep. Being prey animals, lying on the ground makes them very vulnerable. However, to get the deep REM sleep they require, they must lie down. Even though they can doze while standing, the deep sleep happens while in the lateral recumbency position--stretched out on the ground.

They will not rest, however, unless they feel safe, trust their surroundings, and the people and animals around. So you see, having trust is just as important for them as getting restorative sleep because they cannot have one without the other.

Often times, you will see one horse lying down asleep while another stands nearby "on guard." This is very common and multiplies in numbers in larger herds, with more horses standing than those lying down.

Horses know how to work together, support each other, and all have important roles in the herd. And at the base is trust.

How do you see the horse and human parallel in this example of trust?
