🐾 Meet Tako, a 10-year-old pit bull mix, was enjoying a trip near the river when he got nose-deep in some fishing tackle. Shortly after, his family noticed fishing line coming from his mouth. 🎣

The line was pulled out, and at first, everything seemed okay.

Two days later, Tako began drooling and gagging. Surprisingly, he was still eating, drinking, and acting mostly like himself.

Radiographs revealed what couldn’t be seen from the outside: a fish hook lodged in his esophagus.

⚠️ PET SAFETY TIP: NEVER PULL VISIBLE FISHING LINE, STRING, OR THREAD FROM YOUR PET’S MOUTH — OR FROM THEIR REAR END.

In dogs and cats, visible line or string may extend much farther into the digestive tract than you can see. It may also be attached to a swallowed object or fish hook. Pulling it can cause serious internal injury or move a hook deeper into tissue.

If you suspect your pet swallowed a hook, fishing line, string, or similar material:
• Do not pull on it.
• Do not induce vomiting.
• Keep your pet calm and limit activity.
• Contact a veterinarian or emergency hospital right away for instructions.

Thankfully, Tako’s family brought him to Cascade Veterinary Clinics, where Dr. Leah Edwards was able to remove the hook using endoscopy and examine his esophagus from the inside.

Tako went home with follow-up care tailored to his case — and an important reminder for every pet family who spends time near the water. 💙🐾

The end of an era at Cascade Vet. 💙

Today is Pam’s last day with our team as she begins a well-earned retirement after nearly six years of dedicated service.

For those who may not know her, Pam has been one of the familiar faces behind the front desk at our East Wenatchee location. For many of our clients, she has been the calm voice they hear when they call and one of the first smiles they see when they walk through our doors. Her demeanor, gentleness, and genuine compassion have helped countless pet owners feel welcomed, supported, and cared for.

Behind the scenes, Pam has been the kind of teammate every company hopes to have. Whether she was helping clients, answering phones, processing payments, stocking supplies, organizing medications, or keeping things running smoothly, she approached every task with care and took pride in her work.

Pam was also a key part of one of the biggest milestones in our history—our move into our new East Wenatchee facility in 2024. Through all the packing, planning, and countless moving pieces, she helped make that transition a success.

More than anything, we’ll remember the person she is: dependable, kind, loyal, and always willing to help. She’s been a steady presence for our team, our clients, and the pets we’ve cared for together, and her impact on Cascade will be felt long after today.

Pam, thank you for everything you’ve given to our team and community over the years. We wish you nothing but happiness, relaxation, and plenty of time with your sweet Ozzy in this next chapter.

🐾 Ophthalmology with Dr. Colin Bonnett

In this procedure, a Golden Retriever presented to our clinic with mild (inward rolling of the lower eyelid) along with —abnormal eyelashes that rub against the cornea.

These tiny hairs can lead to chronic irritation, tearing, and discomfort, but with precision and care, he’s able to diagnose the issue, relieve the irritation, and protect long-term eye health.

Moments like this highlight the skill, attention to detail, and compassion Bonnett brings to our team every day—and it’s exactly why we’re proud to celebrate his 14th year with Cascade Veterinary Clinics 💙🐾

Your emotional intelligence and ability to approach every situation with “How can we help you?” makes a meaningful difference for every client and patient.

Being open 7 days a week means our reception team shows up for our clients every single day. From weekday rushes to weekend calls, your consistency, dedication, and presence have set the standard for care in our community.
