🐾Help support K9 Ruben!
A loyal narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff's Office and Columbia River Drug Task Force, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Emergency surgery saved his life but cost him his front right leg.
His spirit remains strong—now it’s OUR turn to stand by and support him. ❤️🐾

🖤 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐊𝟗 𝐑𝐔𝐁𝐄𝐍 🖤

K9 Ruben, a loyal narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia River Drug Task Force, has been diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news came suddenly, followed by emergency surgery that resulted in the loss of his front right leg.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, Ruben is recovering with courage, strength, and that same determined spirit he showed while protecting our community for nearly a decade.

Ruben’s next steps include:
🐾 A critical oncology consultation at Washington State University
🐾 A six-week chemotherapy regimen at Cascade Veterinary Clinic
🐾 Physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and recovery tools to help him adjust to life on three legs

🐾 Meet Phillip Starkey—a brave pup who recently faced a life-threatening emergency. When he suddenly became lethargic and not his usual self, his mom acted fast and brought him to Cascade.

Under the care of Dr. Leah Edwards, Phillip was quickly diagnosed with a splenic mass and internal bleeding—a critical condition requiring immediate surgery. Edwards and our medical team performed an emergency splenectomy to remove his spleen and stop the bleeding.

Thanks to the quick response and expert care, Phillip pulled through the surgery and is now on the road to recovery. We’re so proud of Phillip’s strength and honored to have been part of his journey to healing.

Reign, a 5-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, was rushed to after his eye partially —likely from rough play with a housemate.

Dr. Leah Edwards led emergency treatment to reduce the eye and tack the eyelid closed to protect it while the swelling goes down. Medications were started immediately to manage pain, swelling, and prevent infection.

This week, Reign returned for a , and we’re thrilled with the results. His eye is healing beautifully.

Eye prolapse is ALWAYS an emergency, especially in small breeds like Yorkies, Pugs, Frenchies and Shih Tzus and more. If your dog’s eye bulges or looks out of place, seek care immediately.

🐾 When 2-year-old Duke got into a gym bag, his family never imagined it would lead to an emergency. But after puncturing an asthma , Duke began trembling, panting, and his heart was racing.

He was rushed to where Dr. Edwards provided lifesaving care for toxicity—a fast-acting and potentially fatal emergency in dogs.

Thanks to quick action and expert treatment, Duke made a full recovery. 🐾❤️‍🩹

⚠️ What happens?
Dogs can absorb the entire contents of an inhaler instantly, leading to:
• Severe low potassium (hypokalemia)
• Dangerous heart arrhythmias
• Tremors, panting, restlessness
• Lethargy or collapse

Signs to watch for:
• Lip smacking or shaking
• Pacing, agitation
• Collapse or weakness
• Racing or irregular heartbeat
• Vomiting
