Anyone who knows Ben, knows how much he loves his business and his employees.

What started off as trapping as a teen, going to college for conservation, volunteering at hunting resorts, hard work, determination, and of course lots of trial and error - Ben has reached a huge milestone.

Sleepy Creek Tannery has been open and running year round for 10 years!

From early mornings to late nights, being an unpaid therapist, great husband and father, the absolute best boss, traveling all over the states, long weekends, teaching proper fur handling techniques, and of course his huge passion for the fur industry has led to something amazing. None of his hard work ever goes unnoticed!

The Sleepy Creek family, at the tannery and behind the scenes are incredibly proud and inspired by him. For about a year and a half we have been trying to figure out how to thank the man who gives his all to everyone and the community. We figured it out - why not give him a gift that he can use to continue his outdoor passions! We celebrated small today during lunch - reflected over some great, sad, memorable, and of course funny moments over the last decade and gifted Ben a 50 caliber Desert Eagle g*n.

Words cannot describe how thankful and proud we are of Ben. From the SCT family, happy TEN YEARS!

For our tanning and trapping community and the customers who have made it all happen, please feel free to share some memories in the comments below. We cannot wait to reflect over this last decade.

📣 IT’S SHOW SEASON 📣

March is one of our favorite times of the year - it’s when we get to travel, show off our amazing products, and meet our wonderful customers!!

Starting this Friday, we will be at the Iowa Deer Classic in Des Moines.

You will also see us at the Illinois Deer Classic in Peoria, IL the 20-22nd.

And to end the month, we will wrap up at the Wisconsin Open Season Expo at the Dells on the 27-29th.

Everyone at the booth will be happy to accept fur drop offs - both dried fur and green fur! We ask that you only drop off green fur on the last days of each show to ensure they stay cold as long as they can during our travel back. Current turnaround time is roughly 3.5 months, as each show approaches we will update accordingly!

With that being said, Sleepy Creek cannot wait to see you these next few weeks!!

Sleepy Creek Tannery will be attending the 2026 ITA Fur Auction @ Boone County Fairgrounds on Saturday, January 10th.

Auction starts at 9am and will go until all sellers are finished. We will be accepting drop offs during the duration of the auction.

Our current turnaround time is mid-end March 2026. We highly recommend you drop off or ship in your fur before the rush starts!

Sleepy Creek Tannery will be closing at noon on Christmas Eve and will be reopening with normal business hours on Friday, December 26th.

The shop will also be closed on January 1st for New Year’s Day and will reopen with normal business hours on Friday, January 2nd.

Sleepy Creek Tannery will be closed Thursday, November 27th for Thanksgiving. We will reopen with our normal hours Friday the 28th!

Since it is a holiday week, many of our shipping partners are not running their normal routes - we suggest not shipping frozen fur next week!
