✨”All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” ✨ Spent a fantastic weekend over at ESP June 1. Mel and Stella ended up with a 3rd and 2 6ths in the .95 Training Jumpers on their first time out at a rated show. It was so nice to watch these two learn and improve as a pair each day when they stepped in the ring. 👏🏼 👏🏼

✨”Look for the bits of beauty in everyday. That is where the magic happens.”✨ Another successful and fun weekend at PBCHA. Mel and Stella ended up Champion in the Low Child/Adult jumpers and Tara competed in the Mother’s Day lead line on Stella and looked like she was ready to step into the jumper ring as well. Mystique also got to go get some horse show miles and put in some really nice rounds and ended up with a 2nd on Sunday in the puddle jumpers.

✨”Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.”✨Had a great weekend at PBCHA for the first show of their season. So proud of and Colorful Way for ending up Champion in the Low Child/Adult Jumpers and the high point Thoroughbred both days for the TIP program! I also had so much fun taking Mystique out for her second showing experience and walking away with a blue ribbon in the Puddle Jumpers on Saturday. Excited to see how she improves throughout the year!

✨”It takes courage to bloom.” ✨ Spent another Sunday at The Ridge schooling show watching Sofia and Sam show off all the hard work they put in, even in our off season. It’s not always easy having a green bean but this young lady just takes it in stride and keeps going. 👏🏼 👏🏼

✨”Patience is the companion of wisdom.”✨ Had a great Sunday taking Sam and Penelope on an adventure to a schooling show over at The Ridge. Sam and Sofia won both of their CrossRail hunter rounds and ended up second in their first CrossRail jumper class ever. So proud of the hard work and patience Sofia has put into this difficult little guy and how she never complains that we are taking our time giving him the best possible foundation for future success.

As we enter Horse Show Season
1. Horses don’t get broke at home. Be brave and enter!
2. EVERY disappointment at the show is a learning opportunity..... Be humble, be open to change.
3. Everyone gets nervous. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. Literally: EVERYONE!
4. Don’t watch others in the warmup ring and start changing what you have been doing - if you see something cool or you want to step up your game that’s homework for after the show!
5. When we run out of knowledge, we often punish our horses. Seek help instead.
6. Be a competitor! But be a horseman first. There is always someone watching who sees you as a role model.
7. Supporting your fellow competitors and engaging with people will enrich your show life.
8. Know the rules of competition! Make sure your attire and tack is legal. Read the rule book, ask questions and be well prepared.
9. Have FUN, don’t sweat the small stuff!

Somewhere in the world, the 2028 Olympic champion is a foal out in a field. He’s ewe-necked, sickle-hocked, downhill and shaggy, with a club foot and a chunk of mane missing, because his buddy chewed it off.

Somewhere in the world, there’s a young horse that everyone says is too short to make it big. In three years, he’ll be jumping the standards, but right now he’s fat and short and no one is paying him any mind.

Somewhere in the world there’s a 7-year-old who can’t turn right, and a 10-year-old who has not shown the ability to put more than two one-tempis together without losing it, and a 14-year-old who hasn’t yet reached his peak, and all of them will be at the next Olympic Games.

Somewhere else in the world, there’s a rider who is thinking of packing it in. Maybe the bills are getting out of control, or she’s killing herself to get enough help in her own riding development because she’s having to spend all her time riding and teaching to make ends meet and change needs to happen, and she’s wondering if it’s worth it. She’s thinking it’s time to just give up and be a local trainer, to shelve her dreams of international competition. And then she’s going to shake off the doubt, double down, and make a team in the next 15 years.

Somewhere in the world, one of the next great team riders is 9 years old and couldn’t tell if she was on the right posting diagonal if her life depended on it.

Somewhere in the world there’s a future team rider who just got told that she’ll never make it because she’s too chubby, because she’s too short, because she’s too late.

There are horses who will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars that will never amount to anything, and there are horses who will be touted as the Next Big Thing only to be never seen or heard from again, and there are horses who will fly under the radar until suddenly they’re setting the world on fire.

There are riders who will win Junior and Young Rider competitions only to quit riding completely, riders who will be touted as the Next Big Thing only to get stuck in their comfort zones and never come to fruition, and there are riders who will make their first Olympic team at 50, at 55, at even older than that.

And yes, there are the horses that will be brilliant from day one, and there are the riders for whom success both comes early and stays late. But more often than not, history has shown that the unlikely story, the horse who was passed over in favor of his more expensive stablemate, the rider who no one saw coming, is the more likely path to greatness.

“I often caution my overly ambitious students about cutting corners…If you skip things in the beginning or try to move up through the divisions too quickly, you may start out ahead of the others. But, you will inevitably end up backsliding, and you will have to backtrack to learn the parts you missed. You will ultimately spend more time unlearning bad habits and forming good ones than you would have spent learning the good habits to begin with." - Geoff in https://www.theplaidhorse.com/product/geoff-teall-on-riding-hunters-jumpers-and-equitation-develop-a-winning-style/

✨”You don’t just wake up and become the butterfly. Growth is a process.”✨ Had a great time last night celebrating all of the girls accomplishments with their horses this season at PBCHA. Valeria and Prince Charming were champion in leadline, Victoria and Prince Charming were Reserve Champion in Walk Trot hunter and 3rd in Walk Trot Equitation, Sofia and EKF Power Of Gold were Champion in Cross Rail Hunter-trot and Reserve Champion in Cross Rail Equitation trot, and Mel and Colorful Way were Champion in Low Child/Adult Jumper. So proud of all their growth and their ability to overcome the obstacles we encountered with each of their young horses. Can’t wait to see what next season brings.

💫 Beauty is wild. Even the word “flawless” has “lawless” in it. 💫 Spent the last two weeks of 2022 doing what I love most, watching all the hard work pay off for Sofia and Sam at ESP New Year and Winter Finale. They were Champion both weeks in the CrossRail hunters and the second week in CrossRail equitation, and ended up circuit champion in CrossRails. So proud of this pair!
