To Our Community,
We’d like to take a moment to share some context surrounding the missing dog from our clinic. This situation has been incredibly upsetting for our entire team—especially Dr. Yarbrough, who pours his heart into the care of every single animal we serve.
Last week, the dog was taken out for a routine bathroom break into one of our fenced outdoor enclosures, just as we do with all our patients. These enclosures are made of chain link fencing that meets accepted industry safety standards. The dog was being frequently monitored, and in the span of about five minutes, he managed to chew through the fence and escape.
We want to be very clear: this was not the dog’s fault. He did nothing wrong. This was not anyone’s fault—it was a freak accident. Despite our best efforts and established procedures, when working with animals, unpredictable things can and do happen. That doesn’t make it easier—it just makes it real.
We did not release a public statement the day of the incident out of respect for the dog’s family. They were notified immediately, and our team has worked directly with them from the moment this happened. However, now that word has spread and the situation has gained broader attention, we felt it was important to be transparent with our community—to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to find this dog and to reinforce safety moving forward.
Since his escape, we have actively searched day and night, driven the area repeatedly, walked fields, followed every possible lead, and engaged local residents. We are also reinforcing all of our outdoor enclosures with additional materials—something well beyond what’s required—to help prevent something like this in the future.
We know how much people care about their pets—we do, too. This is not just a job to us. It’s our life’s work. We are small business owners and parents, and we carry the weight of this situation with full hearts.
Thank you to those who have offered kind words, helped with the search, and shared our posts. Your support means more than we can say. If you see him or have any information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We remain hopeful and committed to bringing him home.
