I’ve been having a lot of deer coming into the shop with capes cut in the wrong places. Follow the blue lines in this picture. Stay out of the white hair in the armpits!! Leave enough cape behind the shoulders (at least 8 inches). Leave some of the neck in so your taxidermist can get a good measurement. Doing this will make sure that you have a better mount in the end.

Tomorrow is the opening day of rifle season in WV and we can’t wait to see what comes in!!Remember to leave plenty of hide if you want a good mount! Cut up the BACK OF THE LEGS, following the brown/white line up the back of the armpit, NOT up the chest and across the middle of the armpit.

This turkey was taken in Mississippi by Landon Worthy and has a Mohawk! I have never seen this before.
