These showed up as a memory on my personal page. Every time I get a chance to look back at this piece, I’m reminded of where I started and how far I had come, in terms of learning taxidermy at that point.

Now I think to the future of where I’m headed with taxidermy. The possibilities are limited only by our ideas.

If you have birds you’re wanting mounted, call or message me. We can put our heads together and think up something truly cool that you can have in your house to relive the hunt with.

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a few birds scheduled to be mounted in the next few weeks.

1. Wigeon drake - dead mount
2. Snowgoose - dead mount
3. Speckle belly goose - incoming flying
4. Red head drake - Customer said the pose is my choice.

Let’s have a little fun with it. Y’all shoot me your ideas for a mount you’d like to see for a red head drake.

It wasn’t pretty, but I’ve learned that things seldom go according to plan.
Shot wasn’t even close to where it was intended.

Like you hear them say on TV, it was “touch back.” Yeah, it wasn’t a touch back. It was way way way back. I can only think that my shot was deflected by something I didn’t see. I don’t miss by a foot at 15 yards, but somehow I managed to do just that, and hit him “a touch forward” of his hind quarter.

Ample time, good friends, and a quality tracking dog were key in the recovery.

I love it when one comes together!

This one came to me badly freezer burned. I wasn’t sure what I could do with it.

It’s always nice after they’ve been skinned, and fleshed, and then washed and rinsed, when you see them float in the rinse tub and they ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A DUCK, again!!

I think it’s going to be alright.

I wont miss using my kitchen as my shop. But I sure learned a lot in that kitchen. Some cool memories thinking back to the first bird (not pictured) I ever mounted in there, and practicing on several more along the way, to opening a shop at a new location.

It’s been a slow steady progression, and it’s only going to keep getting better.
