So far 2024 is pretty exciting! 🫶🏻💫🤩
Excited to announce two more upcoming guest spots on two of my favorite educational forums! Just taped an episode talking about Rib Entrapment and the Myofascial lines with the amazing Alex Linton for her Whole Horse Podcast.
Next up is discussing the role of High/Low with the incredible Yogi Sharp. We will be comparing research 🔬 on his findings with high/low and what I am seeing with corresponding rib cage rotations. I love that the rig cage rotations that the horses led me to through inspired work by Thomas Myers is being accepted. I believe this is going to help so many horses and help relieve some frustrations at “chasing” chronic asymmetries. The rib cage is the cradle of life in so many ways.
(Now I just have to get rid of this dang flu so I can get back to work!)

I am so excited to announce a very special webinar with myself and Celeste Leilani-Lazaris! We will be discussing the correlations between Rib Entrapment Syndrome and Nerve Health, and current topics facing the equine wellness community.
Discussion topics:
💫 Rib Entrapment and “The Rib Slings” anatomy
💫 Nerve anatomy
💫 The ZENMÂ and BTTM approaches to bodywork and movement therapy, and how they can be used together to help achieve whole horse wellness and balance.
💫 The Myofascial Kinetic Lines, Anatomy of Key lines involved in Rib Entrapments and how lines of strain can “lock in” musculoskeletal asymmetries.
💫 And MUCH more

Please join us, and join the revolution of like minded people for making the world a better place for horses and the people that love them!

A portion of the proceeds will go towards my current research on “rib entrapment syndrome”.

Did you know that the equine rib cage is a complex structure with 52 separate joints attached by hundreds of ligaments and fascia?

🧬 The first 8 ribs attach to the sternum.
🧬Each rib head makes contact with 2 vertebral processes.
🧬 Ligaments and fascia connect the ribs to the spine at the Costovertebral joint.

Just received the most beautiful review from an insanely talented therapist that studied with me and is now a REST practitioner. I have a confession, Amy was the first LMT that I had attend a class, and had such a solid equine wellness education. I was SOOOO nervous to teach her. This review means so much to me coming from her. She is incredibly talented, and everything she does comes from the heart. She is in Mass. area. Smooth Moves Massage
“ Meeting Christy and having the opportunity to attend both her NFC class and Advanced Rib Entrapment class was surely part of some greater cosmic plan. Her knowledge, her assessment protocol and techniques, and her mentorship have completely transformed the way I assess and treat every horse. What I have learned from her has not only altered how I approach each horse and session, but has completely altered the trajectory of my career and my life. Since completing the certification, I have helped countless horses in ways I never thought possible. Word has gotten out, and I find myself in demand with clients. Since completing certification, and inspired by Christy, I have invested in a MagnaWave PEMF to add to my services as well, further catapulting my career to the next level and beyond.
As a direct result of what I have learned from Christy, I am no longer a simple massage therapist, but rather a body worker who can make real changes in a horse in short time.

The advanced course is demanding and relies heavily on a thorough understanding of anatomy. The education transcends what we think of as traditional massage into a whole other realm of anatomy and techniques. It is unlike anything you've ever been taught before, and it is changing the lives of horses in such a positive way, you cannot help but be affected positively as well.

So many amazing discoveries today and thankful for these opportunities to learn more about the amazing equine body and fascia. Thank you to Megan Parks for being apart of this sacred learning experience and for donating a beloved horse for all of us to learn from. When we know better, we can do better.

Public service announcement:

Statements like -

"My horse has always been like this" or "My horse is like that too, so your horse is fine" or "This is how we have always done it"

Are not metrics for success!

The industry has changed significantly since we first domesticated horses, with arguably more proliferation of research around welfare in the last 20 years than ever before.

We have:

Pain ethograms
Muscle atrophy scoring systems
Understanding of calming signals and avoidance behaviour
Correlations between posture and hoof balance
Correlations between posture, hoof balance and pathology
Research around rider biomechanics and saddle fit
Research around behavioural needs and the development of oral and locomotor stereotypies

So, if you think your horse is not right - and you have behaviours that indicate this - you're probably correct!

And if anyone is telling you otherwise, they had better have some significant evidence to support their viewpoint.

Hope this helps ❤️
