Incredible competition at Brave Horse Ohio and we want to thank Ohio Dressage Society for putting on a fun well managed show! We enjoyed the Tacos and Freestyles on Saturday! Big congratulations to Lori and Barrett as this was their first USDF/USEF Show! Lori and Barrett also won the 9 for the Wine! Great job earning your first 9 the first time out. French Vanilla also impressed as it was her first USDF/USEF show, Celia has developed this young mare into something special . Big future ahead for them both. Annie and Icaro shining in their new partnership. Kayley and Amada looking quite confirmed at Third Level and continue to develop.
I can genuinely say this is a special group of riders that are talented and coachable.

Kayley and Amanda Sorpresa Third 3 two Firsts
Minia and Nefas First 3 Fifth p, Second 3 6th AA
Annie and Icaro win First 3 and Second 1, 2nd placings in Second Level test 1 and First 3 .

We are grateful and blessed our horses traveled well and returned home safe.

🚨WARNING when riding travers (haunches-in) in CANTER!🚨

When riding travers, the horse is asked to bring his hindquarters to the inside of the line he is being ridden on, whilst maintaining bend through his body and looking in the direction of travel.

Due to the natural canter sequence, horses that lack balance and straightness in the canter often try to swing their quarters in, and riding travers at that pace can exacerbate the problem.

So, you should only ride travers in canter once you know you have full control over your horse's body and can straighten him when required.

But when ridden correctly, travers in canter can help to improve your horse's suppleness and engagement and help to prepare him for half-passes and pirouettes.
