Have you ever thought about fostering but weren’t sure where to start?

Join us this Saturday, June 27, from 12:00 PM–1:00 PM for our Foster Orientation and learn what it takes to give a shelter pet a temporary place to land while they wait for their forever home.

Meet with our Foster Coordinator, ask questions, and find out if fostering is the right fit for your family. We’re always in need of both short-term and long-term foster homes, and we provide everything you’ll need to get started. Our team works to match pets with foster families based on your lifestyle, experience, and resident pets.

Whether you’re interested in fostering playful kittens, energetic puppies, adult dogs and cats, pets recovering from medical treatment, or animals who simply need a break from the shelter environment, there’s a foster opportunity for you.

As an added bonus, North Meats South LLC will be on-site serving up their incredible cheesesteaks, so come hungry and learn how you can help save lives right here in our community.

Meet Lug Nut 🔧

If you’re looking for a co-pilot for life’s adventures, 2-year-old Lug Nut is ready to hop in the passenger seat.

At around 40 pounds, Lug Nut is the perfect size for road trips, mountain hikes, brewery patios, movie marathons, and everything in between. He recently joined the Sarge’s crew, so we’re still learning more about his leash skills and how he interacts with other dogs. As we get to know him better, one thing is already crystal clear: this boy has the BEST smile.

Lug Nut wakes up every day happy to be here and eager to be part of whatever is happening around him. Whether it’s a car ride for a pup cup, an evening curled up on the couch, or taking in the mountain views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, he’s ready to be your sidekick.

Some dogs are content watching life go by. Lug Nut wants a front-row seat to all of it.

Introducing Laura Lynn!

At 6 years old, this girl is already fully stocked with everything you want in a companion. She’s lived successfully with dogs, cats, and kids in her past home, and she’s settled into life at Sarge’s like she’s always belonged here. In playgroups she’s shown us she’s social, sweet, and ready to be part of the action without overdoing it.

She’s currently completing her leash skills and playgroup assessments, but we already know she’s got the kind of heart people are going to fall for fast.

This Laura Lynn may not stock pantry staples, but she absolutely delivers comfort, sweetness, and the missing ingredient you didn’t know you needed.

🐾 WAIVED ADOPTION FEES THIS SATURDAY! 🐾

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry family member to your home, this Saturday is the perfect time to stop by and meet some incredible pets looking for their people. Adoption fees will be waived for all available dogs and cats thanks to the support of our amazing community partners.

Our adoption process will remain the same, as we always want to make thoughtful matches that set both pets and adopters up for success. Our team will be here to help you find a companion that fits your lifestyle, home, and family.

We’ll also have one of our favorite supporters, North Meats South LLC , on site serving up delicious food throughout the day, so come hungry!

A special thank you to Bear Creek Supply for helping make events like this possible and giving more pets the opportunity to find the homes they deserve.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! We currently have 15 pets behind the scenes getting ready to become available for adoption during the week. Be sure to keep an eye on our website and social media for their introductions as they become available.

We can’t wait to see you Saturday and hopefully celebrate a few happily-ever-afters.

COMING SOON: GERALD 🚨

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a baby giraffe, a lifeguard, and a Great Pyrenees got together and created a puppy, we’d like to introduce you to Gerald.

At just 6 months old, Gerald is everything you’d expect from a large breed puppy: goofy, social, playful, lovable, and impressively clumsy. We’re talking tripping-over-his-own-feet levels of clumsy. If there’s a puddle, pool, water bowl, or any source of moisture within a 50-foot radius, Gerald will find it and make sure everyone else gets wet too.

He’s currently working on his leash skills, although Gerald seems to believe walks are a team effort and often grabs the leash himself to help out. Whether his assistance is actually helpful remains up for debate.

Gerald loves other dogs, has done well around cats and kids, and never seems to meet a stranger. He’s the kind of puppy who approaches life with enthusiasm, confidence, and absolutely no awareness of where his giant feet are going.

Gerald will be neutered on Wednesday and could be heading home with his new family as early as Thursday afternoon. If you’re looking for a best friend who will keep you laughing, join you on every adventure, and occasionally cannonball into the nearest body of water, Gerald is ready to meet you.

At 10 years old, Asia is taking a brief break from Sarge’s to cozy up in a foster home where she can focus on the important things: supervising kitchen activities, perfecting her couch potato skills, taking championship-level naps, and rolling around in the grass whenever the mood strikes.

While she’s enjoying the comforts of foster care, she’s still searching for a family of her own. We already know she’s potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, loves car rides, and is an expert in relaxation. As she settles into her foster home, we’ll learn even more about what makes Asia special so we can find her perfect match.

Senior dogs like Asia have so much to offer. They’ve outgrown the puppy chaos, already know the ropes, and are often happiest just spending time with their people. They may have a little gray on their faces, but they have a lifetime of love left to give.

If there’s a playgroup happening at Sarge’s, you can bet Eleanor is right in the middle of it.

Eleanor is one of our most social dogs and absolutely thrives when she gets the chance to spend time with her canine friends. Whether she’s running zoomies, playing chase, or simply hanging out with the group, she’s always ready to make a new friend.

Playgroups are an important part of life at Sarge’s. They provide dogs with physical exercise, mental enrichment, opportunities to practice social skills, and help us learn more about each dog’s play style and personality. For dogs like Eleanor, they’re also one of the highlights of the day.

Watching Eleanor light up when it’s time for playgroup reminds us just how much she loves being around others. Now all she needs is a family who will appreciate her outgoing personality and give her plenty of opportunities to keep making friends.

At Sarge’s we’re convinced these pets are basically the Marvel universe in disguise.

Except instead of saving the world… they’re here to save your couch from being empty, your snacks from being lonely, and your heart from ever being bored again.

The funny thing is, these skills only fully activate once they’re home.

Our pets can’t wait to show off what they’re capable of. They just need someone willing to be their favorite human and activate the upgrade.

Yesterday’s wellness clinic was a huge success!

In just 4 hours, we provided services to more than 100 pets in our community. Pets received free vaccines and microchips, low-cost nail and sanitary trims, and affordable diagnostic testing, helping families access essential veterinary care.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our partners, volunteers, and donors. A special thank you to Whisker Waggin’ Mobile Veterinary Care and Creekmont Canines Mobile Grooming Co for being onsite with their mobile services and helping make the day even more impactful.

Thanks to everyone who has donated pet food or purchased items from our wishlist, we were also able to distribute hundreds of pounds of pet food to families in need. Your generosity helps keep pets healthy, happy, and at home with the people who love them.

We are especially grateful to Dr. Bull, our Medical Coordinator and RVT Brittany, and Dr. Vale and Melissa from Smoky Mountain Integrative Veterinary Clinic for administering every vaccine and microchip throughout the day. Their dedication ensured that every pet received the care they needed.

And to our incredible volunteers: thank you. From check-in and traffic flow to paperwork and pet handling, your hard work kept the clinic organized, efficient, and welcoming. We truly could not have done it without you.

Together, we are creating a healthier, safer community for pets and the people who love them.
