2026 Liberty Festival Foundations of Freedom session 2
Changing directions at liberty!

10/12/2026

Freya made it to the Horse Park for the 2026 Liberty Festival at Alltech Arena!
She was wonderful for Dan James of Double Dan Horsemanship, she was hot when she was first released into the round pen both days but settled once he worked with her. I'm proud of her for being calm about the whips, and she didnt bat an eye at dan's hat when just a few weeks ago she thought they were certainly going to eat her 😂
She is a smart mare that seems to retain everything she's taught. Day 2 she picked up right where she left off with Dan.
Needless to say, liberty training will also be added to the agenda on top of her saddle restart.

October 2026, last groundwork session for Freya before she heads to Lexington for Dan James to start at liberty!
Two ground driving sessions and 4 short ground work sessions since her rescue last October 2025 but no liberty training ever!
No hands needed here on Tater, while he helps work her from the ridden horse

August 2026 - Freya ground work session. Desensitizing to round pen - she needs to UNlearn that round pens don't mean you need to just run full speed non stop. She is working on unlearning that whips will never be used abusively on her like her prior home. She is also learning personal space, and to have respect not to crowd on top of you.
Learning to flex both sides, yield forequarters & hindquarters, backing under soft pressure and establishing change of direction in the round pen.

August 2026 - helping out at Tractor Supply's animal event, bringing Tater and Rip for the public to view and pet inside & out of the store

August 2026 - always a great idea to be willing to learn new things, and other methods. Ranch versatility & obstacles clinic with Hannah Howe was fun!

July 2026 - working with Ruby on liberty from the ridden horse. She's never had any liberty training, but I've ponied her extensively so we decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with her ❤️
